Puts on pedant hat.
Essential oils are chemicals! Everything is a chemical and not everything natural is good for you.
Having said that, I don't like the types of room fresheners that spray fragrance into the air as they give me a headache.0 -
Yeah, that is pretty pedantic. I suspect you know what I meant

You were right when using pure essential oils alcohol is needed for evaporation but "fragrance" oils are already done for you (if they contain real oil)PlymouthMaid wrote: »I used mineral oil, vodka and lavender oil in the ones I made last year. They don't seem as strong as bought ones so maybe I need to up the amount of oil. I thought I read somewhere that the alcohol was to help with evaporation.
If you have any veg oils at home that are cold pressed I.e. a good olive oil you won't need a carrier just use that- if not Holland n Barrett sell almond oil in their aroma sectionThanks so much for all your help. Where's the best place to get 'carrier' oil (preferably on the high street)?0 -
I think I will have a go at making these. I won't buy the chemical scent ones as I think breathing in chemicals all day is a bad idea (this from a smoker, go figure!!!) but I do like my essential oils and like the idea of natural fragrances in my home

Try lemon and rosemary for a real zing but don't use in a bedroom as rosemary is a stimulator and helps memory! Lemon will also kill airborne germs too.0
