in Cutting tax
I took voluntary redundancy and left my job at the end of June last year. I haven't had any paid word or claimed benefits since. I applied for a tax rebate by sending a P50 and enclosing my P45 recently. Was very surprised and pleased to get a cheque back very soon afterwards. However, I haven't had a new P45, which I thought I would get and will need if and when I get a new job. Do they normally send this separately as a matter of course or do I have to request this from them?

P45 would be useless to you as it relates to what is now a previous tax year. Complete a form P46 if and when you get a new job. There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0 -

I did wonder whether it was due to the fact that we are now in a new tax year, as they do normally issue them.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
When you completed the P50 if you had ticked the first box in the Declaration you would have received an “Unemployment Repayment”, roughly 4 weeks worth of tax, plus a new P45. Then, 4 weeks later, you would have made a further claim and got another P45 and so on.
If you ticked any of the other 3 boxes you would have got a “Cessation Repayment” balancing your tax for the year and no P45.
No P45 because you had finished working for the year.0
