I always buy squash, vimto etc that you mix with water, blackcurrant cordial when my grandchildren visit for a few days and I now know which ones they don't like and which they do but even so, I still have some left. I can't stand the stuff but what can I do with it? I've just tipped a quarter bottle down the drain with gritted teeth, such a waste, but still have 2 half bottles of blackcurrant and vimto left and for some reason they're refusing to move anywhere near the sink!
Other than ice lollies, what else can I do with it?
I can't bear to waste it. As these things aren't as full of sugar as they used to be, I'm not sure how well preserved they are likely to be. They aren't up to their bbe dates yet but have been opened several months. If I liked them I'd drink them no problem but their mum might not be happy if she knew. I might just try and rub the bbe dates off them before they all come next week.
Thoughts please?

cant you just freeze it - straight in the bottle ?
then lift out next visit - would only work once per bottle and might not be good use of the freezer space for the money though..or
You could freeze it in an icecube tray then bag it and just drop one into water for the grand kids -
I'm sure the inventive lot here will have some better suggestions thoughFight Back - Be Happy0 -

That's a brilliant idea!
Could you make jelly with it and some gelatine leaves? You probably wouldn't like the flavour then either but made into a trifle maybe it would be ok?My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Try diluting it with Cream Soda, instead of water.
Delicious. :cool:0 -
My Mum always called it cordial:)

When I was young, we used to make our own orange squash although I have long lost the book. Perhaps they'd enjoy making it and you'd enjoy drinking it then.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Cordial was always lime cordial, everything else was squash, but I've noticed my daughter says cordial meaning everything of that type.
Thanks for the ideas folks.0 -
I would think that blackcurrant and vimto would be nice mixed together. take the label off and tell them its black forest cordial! and serve it freezing cold! taste buds don't work so well when they are really cold.0

I put a 'slosh' of it into the carrots I was cooking for Christmas lunch everyone commented how nice they tasted.:DThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Please and Thank You are the magic words;)0 -
you can use the blackcurrant &/or vimto as non-alcoholic mulled wine - warm gently with spices, apple or orange rings - or you can even add a splash of brandy or port
also good adding a little to stewed apples0
