£1000 a month on food???

I read a post on here a while ago where someone said they had friends in London who spent £1000 a month on food. How is that even possible?? And no, they didn't have 17 children either....
So my question of the day is - if you had £1000 a month to spend on food what would you buy? What would you do differently with your weekly menu? And no answers with just 'I'd buy a load of alcohol'. Really think how your grocety shopping would change.
I struggle to spend more than £250 a month on a family of four...

You could easily spend over £500 a month on a once a week meal out ( particulary in London )0 -
Personally I couldn't spend that much on food per month. Unless you had an enormous family with complex dietary needs, you'd have to eat a load of expensive ready meals, or squander it on overpriced stuff.
If I *had* to spend that much on food, I'd spend as normal then buy usual items for the local food bank who could benefit from a few treats in addition to their usual list of staples0 -
I spend between £100 and £150 a week for 2 of us so with a few takeaways or meals out I can imagine that if you have the money or inclination it would be quite easy to spend £250 a week.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I live in that there London and never noticed a particular difference between the price supermarket food here and my native Newcastle.
I think her friends are having her on.
However if I had to spend £1000 a month (and I honestly don't know how I could).I suppose I'd forgo Lidl and get myself down to Fortnum and Mason.
My Lobster intake would certainly increase.0 -
It depends on the size of the family. I can spend anything up to £165 pw to feed six (even though one is supposed to live away from home!) We also eat out three or four times a month on average so if they are factoring that spend in and any wine/alcohol then I can see how they could spend that, particularly if they eat out at expensive London restaurants. If they earn it they can spend it how they see fit.0

Shopping at Fortnum and Mason, Also the Harrods Food Court0

I would have 1 glass of wine everyday with my meal. would still shop in asda lol and would have a nice bit of steak once per week.
Sunday dinner I would do a roast joint of pork and a bit of silverside. Also would do roast chicken (all 3 on the sunday)
I think I would struggle to spend the 1k.0 -
It seems very extravagant when people struggle to pay bills and buy food.0

Could include loads of booze too .... if they go into Waitrose and buy expensive stuff and lots of booze...... for the days they aren't eating out.0
