I am a Wen user(my hair loves it), so I asked my hairdresser about co washing last September when I started used Wen. She was not a fan but did say it works on people with very fine hair, she said about conditioning first for those with fine hair. But did say not ideal for colour treated or thick hair.
  • ^ my hair is heavily coloured which is why I look for better ways of dealing with it! And so far I'm liking this method.

However my shampoo is sulphate free which definitely helps with keeping frizz at bay.

Could the good effect be purely from washing the conditioner off which will make sure there's no product left in.
Normally it's just rinsed and possibly if not done for long enough or too much product used, the result would be lank and lifeless, so hair would be more bouncy doing it this way.
For some people it would definitely leave a frizz bomb if they were washing out every vestige of conditioner.
I agree with the poster who conditions the middle/end lengths as body and bounce starts at the roots and is less damaged in any case.

I tried this after reading about on the Daily mail website. I thought I would try it for myself.

I have fine, wavy, and colour-treated hair and although the results after the first couple of washes were quite positive, after that, I found I had a lot of static build up. I stopped using this method after just over two weeks because I have some signs of split-ends forming which I haven't had for a few years and was struggling with frizz.

It's interesting that it works for some hair types very well but not others. I think I will only do this every now and then.
  • I have kind of done this but I shampoo, condition and then just lightly shampoo my scalp. I worry about shampooing all of the conditioner out otherwise??
  • Ive never heard of this before but I will definitely try it next time I wash my hair. It is very thin and straight so anything that can helpmis great :) xxx

Cheap Asda conditioner instead of shampooing first then better quality conditioner afterwards. Shampoo seems to strip my hair.
  • I did the conditioner then shampoo thing this morning. It certainly has given my pixie crop some oooomph! Jeezy peeps - I look like a cockatoo!

While it works, I think its more to do with the fact you're washing out the conditioner. In that case, are we not just as well ditching the cond altogether?
