Mortgage free by 39?

New to the MSE forum and decided to share my ambitions, as it currently stands I am a 29yr male, I currently have £58,598.24 outstanding on my mortgage over a 13yr period. I plan to be mortgage free in 10 years. Here's hoping! I have 2 jobs (Prison Officer & Army Reserve) and recently I have just finished putting my girlfriend who lives with me through uni (she has her own debts though.. :( ) but now she has a full time job and can support herself I can get cracking on the mortgage as well as the debt below.

Only been on the forum 10 minutes and already learned a few tricks. Good luck to all MSEers!

    Welcome aboard

Your plan sounds fairly doable considering the size of the mortgage, do you make overpayments already?

I'm close to you in age (just turned 31) and would be very happy to be rid of our mortgage by 39. Just think, 40+ years to enjoy *not* paying the damn thing ;)

Do you enjoy the reserves? I used to have a colleague from a military background and his 'military' persona made him a completely different person (more confident etc.)

I make small over payments when I can but i'm also trying to rid myself of my debt I have on CC's/loan etc. 40+ years sounds great to be mortgage free for however being the mug I am I also intend on buying more houses when I am on my feet for a nice wee retirement fund :)

Reservists is good, would do it for free I enjoy it that much, but they insist on paying me so I insist on putting it towards debt :D
