Sainsbury's delivery saver pass - minimum order now £100?

Options
Did anyone else just get the following from Sainsbury's regarding their 12 month delivery pass?
Important changes to our free midweek delivery service

Dear [person],

We'd like to inform you that our free midweek delivery offer is changing. From 28 April, all online grocery orders of £100 or more will qualify for free delivery after 2pm, from Monday to Thursday.

You may notice that some individual delivery slot prices change from this date, too.

Thank you,
Sainsbury's Online Team

This was sent via e-mail an hour or so ago, but their website and T&Cs still says it's a minimum order spend of £40.

We never spend £100 per order, and we've got 8 months remaining on our pass, so I'm hoping this a mistake?

Unless it's:

£40 minimum order = Tuesday - Thursday delivery
£100 minimum order = Monday - Thursday delivery

I.e. if you spend more, you can also have Monday deliveries?

I think you have always been able to get free delivery on certain days if you spent more than £100. Now they have increased it to more days.

I think that is what the email is about; not the delivery pass thing which allows you to get "free" delivery if you spend £40 or more. I bought a twelve month one before Christmas, and now we are just a two person household I struggle to make the £40.

It is specifically for the delivery pass -

"some important changes to our free midweek delivery service"

According to the website there are no free deliveries for normal orders even over £100.

I bought the delivery pass midweek in November 2013. I order every two weeks when I get my ESA. I am disabled and unable to work.

I cannot spend £100 on my groceries in one go for a start.

On top of that I am coeliac. I cannot freeze the gluten-free bakery stuff because it is not fit to eat once defrosted. If I ordered once a month I have nowhere to store frozen foods in my freezer since it isn't big enough. So my bargain delivery pass is now useless to me and a total waste of money. I will be reporting this to Trading Standards.

    9. Delivery Pass change or termination

9.1 We reserve the right to change or withdraw Delivery Pass membership benefits or suspend the delivery pass service at any time and for any reason.

9.2 We reserve the right to change and update these terms and conditions from time to time. If we do so, we will update our website with the revised terms and conditions and will send an email to Delivery Pass members detailing any material changes.

The changes take effect on 28th April, so the website has not changed yet. I have also emailed Sainsbury for clarification on this since the email was not at all clear.

The email does not mention delivery pass.

I think that Shushannah has it right. Currently you can

    * Pay for each delivery. (Minimum order £25)

    * Buy a delivery pass and get "free" deliveries (Minimum order £40)

    * Get goods delivered free, even if you don't have a delivery pass, Tuesday-Thursday (Minimum order £100)

In future instead of Tuesday-Thursday it will be Monday-Thursday after 2pm.

    Delivery pass deliveries are unaffected.

I hope this isn't the case, I only bought my delivery pass 2 weeks ago, and with there only being 2 of us, we also struggle to hit the minimum on a normal weeks shopping (unless im buying washing powder/toilet roll etc). Hope we get some clarification soon :(

Response from Sainsbury by email today -

Thank you for contacting us about the email you received relating to changes to our free delivery slots. I am sorry for the confusion that this has caused and appreciate that it must be frustrating as you have purchased a Sainsbury's Delivery Pass.

I can confirm that these changes will not affect you as you have a delivery pass for the year. As you have purchased a Midweek Delivery Pass, you only have to place orders for delivery between Tuesday and Thursday over the value of £40. The email you received from us is a separate promotion that we have offered to our customers who specifically place orders over £100 midweek. This means that you will still benefit from the Delivery Pass you have purchased.
