Facebook 'share' competitions

Just a question for those who understand Facebook better than me. I don't want to get banned by having a special page just for comps, so for L&S comps my shared posts appear on my page. It's embarrassing, even though I keep them to a minimum, so I've started changing the 'who can see this post' control on them to say 'just me'. Well, I've still shared it, haven't I? Do you think this will work, or will it not 'count' in the eyes of the people running the comps?

OK, I'll look for that from now on, thanks.0

I think if they can't see it, you haven't done it. Unless it's shared publicly they won't be able to check that you've followed the rules.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I never knew this actually. Every time I've shared a link it's displayed to 'friends only' by default. This may explain why I've never won a L&S competition . . . Thanks to you both.0

Oo never thought about that - my privacy setting are friends only as I am a teacher and public sharing is not a good idea. Does this mean that I am wasting my time with fb comps then? Is it possible to change display settings just for one post at a time or does it alter all of them?"'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

You can alter it for individual posts. I've just gone back and made my last 2 shares public - the opposite of what I wanted, but I guess I'll just have to carry on being selective about what I share.
Just below you name, next to the time of the post, there's a little arrow you can click to customise your privacy settings for the post.0 -
thanks guys just remember to share my comps public always forgettingWhat goes around-comes around0

just make a seperate page for comps0

People have been banned from FB for doing that though.0

Is a separate page for comping really a ban-able offence? People on my facebook share much more rubbish than comp posts, I know which I'd rather have banned x]0
