PGCE Option - Student Loans
Options
Hi folks,
I'm quite aware that there are a large number of people on here who have had the 'letter' from Erudio.
Some of you in the past may have been as stupid as I was, and decided that in later life teaching was the way to go and completed a PGCE course post 1998.
One of the options from that was the PGCE Option, which allowed you to choose which loan to pay off first, the income contingent, the mortgage or for the crazy both at once.
Erudio didn't know anything about that option, SLC are contacting them to remind them, hopefully I will hear more soon.

My lovely new friend and Erudio has told me that all I need to do is defer it because I am below the threshold and that the PGCE option see link (can't post it but go to SLC website) will take effect.
On some deeper questioning, as to why the option wasn't available on the form, he told me that in fact it was a totally different company than the SLC and it didn't come with that option......hmmmmm.
SLC said everything is the same. Erudio say it isn't.

Update:
So spoke to SLC again today to ask them what to do about the situation.
They are sending me out the correct paperwork for the PGCE Option, which when completed means that I will pay back my income contingent loan, defer the mortgage style loan, and they will inform Erudio of this.
May be of some use to people who have both types of loans and took a PGCE0
