How long must I wait?!

Hi all, I'm a new comper having just started last week after getting tired of feeling like I never won anything! The last straw was a competition from a blog I follow which I had totally convinced myself I would get a prize from and of course came up empty handed! So I decided to start entering more and more competitions and soon found this place!

So my (not at all serious) question is, how long until I start winning?!

I know having just started I'm going to have to wait for all the competitions I'm entering to end, but I was wondering whether any of you noticed a particular change after you started comping where you felt like suddenly you started winning things? I'd be interested to see if there's a trend!

Also whether any of you feel like you have particular times of the year where you win more/less than usual?

It just depends, you could enter thousands of competitions and win nothing at all. Or, you could enter just a few competitions and win quite quickly. There is no way to know what will happen.

Best thing is just to enjoy entering the competitions and don't expect to win - then any win is a surprise.

I've been comping here since 2006 and my win rate has really dropped over the last couple of years as there are so many more people entering the competitions.

You may win one today or you may never win at all. No-one knows how long it might take you so you will need a lot of patience but the excitement of that first win is wonderful. I wish you well.

You don't need a calender when you comp. Each season/event eg Easter, Valentines Day etc... Brings up a crop of related prizes.

There's no telling with comping. I've been entering 300+ comps a day and had one win last month and still waiting for my first win of April. You just have to keep at it and keep waiting.

I won my first comp a few weeks after starting this year. But, last time I had a go at comping I won literally nothing for months.

I definitely won more in December and January due to the advents. Ohhh, I love those advents.

I can sympathise, it can be so frustrating/disheartening not winning anything!

I've been comping for around 6 years and for 5 of them I never won a thing. Not a button! Not a single, tiny, incy, wincy prize! Nada!

But i enjoy comping; the excitement, the community! I always check out the 'I won' forum for inspiration!

If you really want to keep comping you need to accept that dry spells will happen! You may be very lucky and win straight away and win big, but you may just have to have some patience and your lucky time will come around! Taking a comping break helps too! Just so you don't become obsessed or too sad about it!

Remember, you've got to be in it, to win it!

I have been comping again since January and have won two prizes (2nd has still to arrive so maybe I shouldn't count it).

I started a week ago on the 31st.

I won my first prize today

It's a mystery prize from a gaming site. I have no idea what it is until it shows up. I would guess it's from some promotional stuff the company has and is giving away.

I will treasure it whatever it is as it's my first ever comping win.

It has now made me want to do this even more.

Keep at it and something will come along. It could be a day, a week, a month or even a year, but it will happen.
