No it was M&S. I've emailed them to ask. See what they say. Thanks.

I was in my local M & S on friday, saw a couple of dresses in the sale, didnt have time to try, the price was 12.99 for one and 10.99 for the other, she said I could not return these items, for refund or credit note, so i left them!!!:o

Maybe a new refund policy then. Thanks
  • I don't see anything on the website about it - how bizarre. Statutory rights will still apply in any case. I've just ordered a lamp for £18.99 and wasn't notified of any 'ending in 99p clause' to the retail contract!

I'd be curious to hear what M&S say on this!

This has always been the policy in store, and it applies to the final reductions of the sale items. M&S have tried to make the difference clearer by pricing items at 99p. It should be accompanied by a stamp on the price tag, and should be clearly marked with a sign, and should be mentioned by the assistant when purchasing! I am not aware of this policy being online.

Unfortunately instore staff have not been trained properly to understand the distance selling act. They seem think the same rules apply to online sales as instore sales! I have had this happen to me the last two times I have bought online in the sale but have managed to sort it out! Marks and Spencers really do need to do better than this it is embarrassing for staff and customers.

This is lovely too - just ordered the white one http://www.marksandspencer.com/kensington-glass-table-lamp/p/p22250678

    Thanks OP.

That's lovely - trying to persuade myself I don't need the mint green but at that price and reduction.........! ;)
  • You can return anything at any price as long is it doesn't say "CAN NOT REFUND" on the receipt - ask for a manager otherwise x

Ok received reply from M&S. This is the rule for goods bought in store but not online. So the lady in M&S was mistaken.
