My other half has asked me if id mind having his grans engagement ring stones recast into mine. She died when he was young and they were very close and the ring is gorgeous.
We can't just use the ring as is as it's too big on me and can't be adjusted without ruining the setting.
Only problem is I never imagined having more than 1 stone so I need some design inspiration, the ring has 6 diamonds- 2 are quite large (5 or 6mm across) and 4 are small (about 1.5mm). All are round. At the moment the 2 larger stones are beside each other and framed by the smaller ones.
They will be set in platinum or white gold, I can't find a photo of the ring currently at the jeweller still has it from assessing it from being resized but I'll get hold of one later if that will help. Anyone have any design ideas for this many stones in a ring?

the obvious thing that springs to mind is ...if you just want one stone in your ring then pick the one you want and save the rest.
You could look at a pair of earings if you have 2 stones that are very similar or even have the remainder used in a setting on a pendant to be put on a chain.
Something you might also want to consider is saving the "left over stones" to be used at another point...for the birth of a child for example or indeed to make another ring for the next generation to propose with.
The possibilities are extensive when you have several stones so you dont always have to think about using them all in one go.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

To be honest I love the ring the way it is, now that I've seen it and tried it we've decided to just have the ring remade with the stones closer together so that it will fit better. We are also changing the metal from gold to platinum because I don't wear gold so our wedding rings will be platinum.0
