Grrr .. Rant over! Hope your all having a lovely weekend!

You didn't have to nip to the shops, you chose to. Didn't you have anything else in that you could use instead? Was it for a salad box or to add to a sandwich?

It was for a sandwich, I dont really fancy ham by its self lol The post was more about saying there seems there something else all the time, its not necceserily about the lettuce...Debt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250

Milk
I have been doing the weekly shop for over 20 years and I still never seem to buy the right amount of milk.
We either have 4 pints left over for the following week or we run out before shopping day.
What makes it expensive, is that I use the corner shop if that is all I need. We have a Tesco express 2 roads away, but I know I will buy more than just milk if I go there. :mad:0 -
Hi
I can really relate to this.
I have spent the minimum amount getting together an 'authentic' indian meal for tonight.
We have : poppadums (spiced and normal)
lime pickle - Which I find too hot.
Onion Bhajis - 3 left over from last time.
Lamb Bhuna - From freezer.
Pilau rice - Bought on offer.
After all that - OH wants 'INDIAN ONION SALAD
so - off I go to the shops to buy - coriander & cucumber
And before you all come on and berate me for it - I KNOW!! :rotfl:Debt at LBM £60k (July 09) Jan14 £5k Feb14 £4615

For me it's always milk...I sometimes have to get it on the way home when I get off the train. The only shop is Waitrose. Thank goodness I can now get 4 pints for £1 with the MyWaitrose card.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0

If you have room in the freezer than frozen milk is a useful backup, or UHT in the cupboard. It doesn't taste as nice so might also be an incentive to adjust your usage if you are getting low.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Hear hear! I'm currently on a shoe-buying strike! It's only April and my kuds have had at least one pair each this year! I swear my teenage son eats his!
As for groceries I'm off the hook! I used to shop Mondays and a top up of bread/milk/fruit by Thursday. DH has taken over. It's been two weeks and he's on a bit of a learning curve, he's had to shop almost every day! On the positive side he's realising just how much organisation it takes to shop for a family of 6 AND keep to budget

It tends to be bigger things for me - like the horse needs something or the car needs to go in the garage.
But yes - I have often wondered whether there is "always something" for us because money is in short supply, and whether people with healthy savings accounts feel the same way!0
