Which Secured loan for bad credit.....

I have bad credit history and a CCJ thanks to my ex hubby.
I have plenty of equity in my house but my mortgage lender won't let me have any funds to clear some of my debts that I myself have accrued with trying to keep up with things...grrrr....
I need to get rid of the damn credit cards cos the debt is not reducing and I pay out £120pm.
Which is the best companies to try for a secured loan as I could be paying out the same amount of money per month but at least there would be a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

You thought about/or looked at defaulting and going with 1 of the free debt charities.
  • Hi,
I have been to the Citizen's advice and they could write to the c/card companies but they did also say that as much as the payments may or can be reduced it would still feel like I was getting nowhere and would take a lot more than 5yrs to pay off.
I'm not really bothered about having a secured loan as I've never defaulted on any of my payments and as I said, I could be paying the same amount per month with the loan.

With a CCJ and a bad credit history you are unlikely to find a secured lender willing to lend to you. If you did then it is very likely that the APRs will actually be more than your credit cards are currently charging.

How much do you owe on your cards? Is £120 a month all you can afford to these debts?
