O/S Daily Sunday 6th April 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning (or nearly goodnight for me. Just about to finish night shift at 7am).
Hope everyone is well.
Well, what a couple of days I have in store. Tomorrow we bury my sister (not going to be a depressing post, dont worry). She wanted/getting a colourful funeral. So I have to go shopping to buy something colourful yet respectful enough for a funeral. Yikes (im male btw, so no dresses advice pelase lol). She wanted to come home today to stay in the house before her funeral, but the coffin wont fit through any doors or windows (sigh, she decided, paid and chose the whole funeral as it was a long drawn out illness. No need to explain). Im sure she bought a huge coffin just to be an awkward little be*ger lol (that was her, twsied but fabulous sense of humour). I can picture that look and smirk on her face at tape measures all around the windows and doors.
Not looking forward to tomorrow obviously, but worse as we have a huge family (litterally HUGE) and everyone is split in two over her decissions for the funeral. She chose it, so we have stuck to everything we possibly could, but others arent happy and want to change things. Some not coming unless changes are made in songs etc....oh dear. As I say, im sure she chose everything to cause a bit of bother, she would love a bit of drama at the funeral knowing her haha.
Anyway, todays taks are shopping, cleaning the house for everyone to come back, preparing food....oh, and really have to get that front garden sorted before anyone sees it. Been raining everyday.
Other than that, hope everyone has a good day and remember to live life to the full, always. Everything is there for you to grab.I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
Morning everyone
Gonzo - sorry to hear your sad news, sounds like your sister may be looking down and having a chuckle at all the goings on!
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Still dark, there’s rain drops on the windows, and the ground looks damp under foot but not had much rain, looks a bit blowy too.
DH awake too, we’re both enjoying a peaceful cuppa.
Dinner last night was a naughty takeaway – we now remember why we stopped buying them – was ok but not brilliant and they’re not cheap. DH says it has left him with a dry throat and he has a funny taste in his mouth – the same as when we’d have takeaways regularly – guess we won’t bother again then! Good lesson learnt! Not sure what we will be doing for lunch as haven’t been very well prepared and haven’t got anything out of the freezer – I’m sure we won’t starve though.
Had an ok day yesterday whilst the menfolk we out at work, I had some lazy chill time – watched loads of tv programmes I’d got on sky + that I hadn’t had time to watch – so watched and deleted those. Then just pottered about doing a few bits, did some work on pc relating to the caravan stuff we’re involved with. I should really have done some baking/cooking, but just enjoyed doing stuff as and when I felt like it. I don’t have anything in the tins for the coming week so may regret not being more productive but I can deal with that during the week. Depending on what we’re doing today I may do some today – we have several things to do today so will see how we go time wise.
I did have a much better night’s sleep last night – obviously helped by the fact that I hadn’t slept the night before and a few glasses of wine with our friends and then going to bed when I felt tired and I didn’t wake or toss or turn – I can only remember going to bed and putting my head on to the pillow. I’d had just a couple of glasses of wine, not loads, as I’ve found that you then don’t get a restful night’s sleep – it’s a drunken slumber that doesn’t refresh you IYSWIM?
Backed the 2nd placed horse in the National yesterday so have a bit of winnings to collect, and had a little win on the online gaming too, so waiting for that to hit the bank account.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
An early start for us as we wanted to get up early and speak to our son in Australia as he's just come back from Indonesia on a business trip. He sounds really good, our little granddaughter Amelia is 6 months now and coming on a treat. Can't wait to meet her in November.
Will have our breakfast and then off to Bangor for the day before we head back home. Should imagine it's reasonably tidy as our Dd is home and will make sure youngest DS is on his best behaviour.
Have a great Sunday whatever your up to xxStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning everyone.
Hope the funeral all goes to your sisters plan Gonzo. My father had his planned out and I did everything he asked too and incurred the wrath of some cousins who I hadn't ever met and who hadn't seen my father in over ten years. Luckily my last remaking uncle had had the discussion with my father so it clear that it was exactly as asked for. Flea in ear time!
Woke very early to the sound of a cat meowing loudly. Found it was 'trapped' in the garden (which is walled on all sides). Think it had come over the roof of the old farm outhouses and couldn't get back up onto it. So I'm out at first light chasing it towards the garden gate and hoped it wouldn't jump into the sheep pen. Needn't have worried, sheep still asleep and didn't move.
So...went back to bed with a cup of tea.
Plans for today feature 'unpacking cardboard boxes' heavily. Need to clear the spare bedroom ASAP for new bed and mattress arriving in two weeks. Despite a mega declutter before packing up in October there is so much stuff I wonder why I bothered to pack. :rotfl:
Food? Mmmmm...not sure. Last night we had Chinese which was fine, today we should aim for proper food.
Wishing everyone a great Sunday. Jackie and Molly still being sent healing vibrations.0 -
Morning all
We're out for lunch today, taking MIL & FIL out, belated Mothers day treat, hubby refuses to go out 'on the day' as it's so busy, he always buys me flowers the week before Valentines day too. We are going with BIL & his on/off GF, they'll sit & boast about their trips to Vegas Thailand, Iceland & Morocco. I'll sit & seethe as they both live on benefits, lol.
Gonzo, sounds like your sister had a great sense of humour
Hugs to Molly, stay strong
LW, enjoy your princesses
I'm not getting much sleep, too many things to worry about . DD1 has 7 or 8 weeks to go & has been told she will have to deliver in an operating theatre & not a delivery suite, DD2 has been diagnosed with stomach ulcer & is 4 months pregnant. MIL has 'something' in her bladder & is having surgery on Tuesday. One of hubby's colleagues has given his notice in, which means hubby will be worn to the bone as it will take 3 or 4 months to find a replacement, school won't rush as it saves them money.
Time I made a cuppa
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Hi everyone,
Gonzo, I hope it all goes well tomorrow. Unfortunately funerals can be very divisive, having just avoided major rows over mum's.
Molly and Jackie, hope all goes well.
Hester, virtually all my family is overworked at the moment, employers seem to be taking the mick.
We backed the runner-up in the National yesterday - but only won £8, we only ever have a flutter on that race and it's the only one we watch.
DS and GF back from Rome so hopefully we'll see them today and get their news, I also want to get the house straight because I did s*d all this week. Dinner will be simple because we picked up an M&S Gastropub meal of slow cooked belly pork reduced to £2.70, unless DS and GF want to eat with us, in which case I'll do the full roast.
Have a good day.0 -
Good morning everyone
DG - I loved the facebook wedding photos, thank you for sharing
JackieO - hope you are sleeping peacefully and painfree after your op and looking forward to your milkshake tonight
Molly - hope you are having a calm day and not worrying too much about tomorrow. Please ask someone to let us know how you are x
Julie - you are a lovely honest person. I left £30 in a cash point outside the T shop and I did not get it back! Have a super time in Wales.
Judi - looking forward to hearing more about the new arrival at the baby house
GonzoAston - your sister sounds like quite a character but hopefully your family can agree to go along completely with her wishes and all goes well at the funeral
Popped in the L shop to buy some sparkling mineral water and they had some great meat offers, so am trying their pork loin medallions for dinner and there are a few more bargains in the freezer.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning,
Judi - What a gorgeous babyI hope his mother comes round in the end.
Hester - You are having a bit of a time of it at the mo, aren't you?
JackieO - Hope the op went ok and you aren't in too much pain.
Not much to report here today.
We are trying to sort our little bit of 'lawn' out. It really is just a mud patch. We have been told we have too many worms, but we think it is the leatherjackets that are causing the problem.
Have a good day all.0 -
JackieO best wishes for today x x
Molly best wishes for tomorrow x x
It rained in the night and its is grey and drizzly here this morning. I am glad I got most of the washing done yesterday.

Hi all
Just getting a bit of peace and quiet as the Princesses are flaked out on the carpet and Mr LW is doing a spot of gardening with my "garden claw". I can no longer use it myself, but he's finding it helpful.:o
GonzoAston I hope your sister's Journey goes well; funerals can be rather fraught, I know. She sounds like someone I'd have liked, and I think it's great that her wishes are being met as far as is possible.
The old chap who used to have a pub near here wanted to be buried under the floor of the canal-side bar. There was a lot of hoo-haa between the family regarding this, (the family still owns and runs the pub, his son is in charge now) but it did eventually happen; and it is now customary to stand on the brass plate over where his ashes lie and "have a drink on Jack".
We've had a small drama - had the bloke next door hammering on the front door - Mr LW answered it and the chap was standing there with a letter in his hand, all flustered. I thought the Royal Mail had yet again delivered our mail incorrectly, but... not this time. Turns out it was for the old boy who used to live next door - who died several years ago (E & D bought the house from his son). Unfortunately they'd opened it without realising, thinking it was some sort of circular, but in fact it's to do with some sort of insurance (got the name of the company all over the envelope) hence the flustered-ness.
Anyways - long story short, we no longer have contact details for the son - we didn't keep his email address when we changed computers, as we didn't think there'd be any need to be in contact after his Dad died, and only knew what county he lives in, but I was able to track him down via Bee Tee's online phone directory.:T Luckily he has an unusual last name. So Mr LW called him to explain the situation, and we shall forward it on to him to deal with.:o
Right, I think I shall see if Their Royal Highnesses would care for a small perambulation round the field.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
