My sons 1st birthday party

Options
It is my sons first birthday in June and I want to throw him a little party. I am thinking of doing a teddy bear picnic but am a bit unsure of a few things.

His birthday is in June, I would like it outdoors but if the weather turns bad, we need shelter. Now would it be better to have it in our back garden where we can use the house or we have a local country park where there is shelter but I am unsure whether we could use this.

We will be inviting around 10 babies approx.

I will have a few activities such as toys and a ball pit to take with us. Are there any other activities that we could do?

I have got someone making the cake. For favours, I was thinking of little teddies as gifts rather than party bags.

What food could we offer? Thinking teddy bear shaped sandwiches and cookies, fruit, cheese, breadsticks and crackers.

Any help much appreciated, if I have missed something I'm open to any ideas!

Thank you :):):)

What a lovely idea! Have you got any way of playing music? I think having a sing-a-long of the teddy bears picnic should be mandatory!

With regards to food - homemade fruit juice lollies if you decide to have it at home. Poundland have some really cute ones in at the minute. Make up plenty of squash. You could freeze some bottles to use as ice packs if you go for the park option. Will you want to provide any more "adult" food for the grown ups - not a problem if not just something to think about.

I'm assuming all the babies are around your sons age in which case I don't think you need to stress too much about planning activities just make sure you've got plenty to entertain them with. Let's face it the plan would probably go completely out the window anyway!

Hope you have a lovely day and remember to take plenty of photos :)

Hi rachiibell, music is a brill idea. Sure I have a portable CD player somewhere for that. There's plug points in the garage so can get an extension cord sorted too. A sing-a-long too, I think us adults will have more fun than the babies now!

I think having it at home is going to be a more suitable option.

Ice lollies, they would love those. I will have to have a look in poundland. Was thinking of a few pieces of food for adults but trying to keep it nice and cheap really as I may or may not be back in work before the party. I think maybe I will put some of youngest ds toys outside for some entertainment

I will definately take plenty of photos, very excited at the thought now!

Thank you for your ideas xx

    I've been Money Tipped!
I agree with the music idea.
If they are all around the same age I wouldn't really plan any activities, as you say you have a ballpit and toys and at that age they coulld become irritable if they're pulled from one activity to another.
A play with the toys, ball pit and a singalong to the birthday song should be plenty.

In regards to food I wouldn't worry about providing food for the adults. I have three kids, the eldest is 7 and I've been to lots of kids parties, not at one was adult food provided. It's totally normal to just cater for the kids.
What usually happens is the kids eat and then the hosts invites the parents to finish off whatever's left over.

I think its a very cute idea to have a teddy bear instead of a party bag.

I wouldn't have thought you'd need permission to hold the party in the park. However if the weather turns just bear (excuse the pun) in mind that the shelter may be used by other people so you may get other kids trying to join in your party.
