    Debt-free and Proud!

    Happy Friday DFW's!

Thank God its Friday, first week back in work in January is always the worst and I had an early start this morning, had to be in for 7am so hoping to finish a bit earlier than normal today but we'll see how the day goes!

Yesterday wasn't an NSD but I spent less than €4 in the shop on the way home so nothing major. I paid €150 off the credit card too. I am hoping to ramp up the debt payments this year and have rejigged my budget, it looks great on paper and I could be debt free this year if I stick to it, its aggressive but I think its doable. I have no holidays planned this year and am reconsidering car purchase, I'll only buy if I really really have to. In the meantime I'll work at clearing down the loan and releasing the €2,000 savings. Technically, I really only owe €7,000 as I can put the savings off the end of the loan when I get it down to €2,000 but I'll see when I get there, I'm not sure about wiping my savings due to car uncertainty. I have an annual bonus due in March and hope to put the majority of it off my loan, at that stage then I can make a decision on the savings! I'm brutal at decision making.

I have updated my signature after credit card payment so debt total now below €9,000 for the first time ever, 59% of debt paid off in just over 3 years so not too shabby. I'm feeling very positive today looking at those figures, I've come a long way in the last 3 years, I just know I'm going to get to my debt free goal.

DD is off to her dads this weekend so I shouldn't need to spend too much this weekend, I badly need to do a grocery shop but I think thats about it. I am going to avoid all other shops this weekend. I have loads to do at home, all the Christmas decorations need to come down, get boxed up and put in the attic. Then I need to give the house a good Spring clean and declutter, a lot of DD's Christmas pressies are still hanging round my sitting room. So all that should keep me busy and keep me from spending!

Hope you all have a lovely Friday

  • Just did a redclive survey during my lunch break which puts me up to 52 points now so I should receive a nice cheque in February for €50 so that can go towards the loan too. And I have an employee attendance mastercard voucher for €100 due to me some time this month too. I'll probably use that to pay a bill though as I dont think I can pay it off credit card or loan as its a mastercard, but I'll check it out :D

  • Stealing this great idea from someone else's diary! I just love stats & figures, so here are my debt stats from Jan 2014 to now:

    Jan 2014 €21,746.34
    Jan 2015 €16,902.57
    Jan 2016 €13,248.27
    Jan 2017 €8,942.38

Makes the progress seem more real to see it written down like that!

  • Afternoon DFW's,

I had a very lazy morning so really need to play catch up now, I have to take down Xmas decorations including tree, box them up and stick them in the attic, loads of laundry to be done and then I need to clean clean clean! And instead I am here sitting on my sofa with a cuppa and reading MSE forum.

Yesterday wasn't an NSD, I took €50 out of bank and did a really small grocery shop and hopefully have enough cash left in my purse to cover DD's school bus and pocket money. I'll need to take more money out to get petrol tomorrow for the week and then hoping to avoid the shops for the week. I might be in the position then to make another debt repayment before payday on Friday, I'll see how it goes but I'm in pretty good shape at this point.

Happy Saturday to you all, I'm off to start the laundry!

  • Happy Sunday afternoon DFW's!

I had a productive enough day yesterday despite the lazy start. Christmas tree and all decorations were taken down and boxed up, they are currently all on the landing and I need help to get them up into the attic, hoping DD will help me later, its just impossible to get them up there on my own trying to balance on a ladder! All the laundry was done and clothes are currently drying on the clothes horse or in the tumble dryer. Beds changed and that laundry done too. Downstairs has been all cleaned & decluttered & hoovered, I just need to run the steam mop round the floors today. I got all downstairs tiled last year and its so easy to keep clean, lovely porcelain shiny tiles, should have done it years ago. I thought the sitting room would be cold with tiles but its a small house so keeps the heat well. I have a lovely big long pile rug in the sitting room too so its nice & cosy. The tiling throughout makes the place look bigger too.

Yesterday was a NSD and today should be too. I didnt even get a takeaway this weekend, using up everything in the freezer instead. As a result I still have money in my purse to cover the school bus and pocket money for DD for the week so happy days!

DD is with her dad this weekend but due home soon thankfully, missing her today.

  • Feeling very accomplished, the Xmas decorations including tree are in the attic! My parents dropped in for a cuppa so I took advantage and asked my dad to give me a hand so all sorted in a few mins. Then had lovely chat & cuppa with them, they don't often just drop in so it was a nice surprise. I steam mopped the floors after they left and very shortly afterwards DD came home. Today was another NSD, very proud of that, very unusual for me to have a NSD on both Saturday & Sunday. Only 4 days till payday now and I don't think I have to go near a shop as we should have enough groceries in so I might be able to pay more off debt, I'll decide the day before payday :D

  • Happy Monday DFW's,

NSD here so far. I am finding it hard to get motivated at work today, literally clock watching, only 1.5 hours to go!

I have been messing round with my budget all morning looking for ways to pay debt down faster but DFD remains the same. I am so impatient, I feel like I have been doing this debt repayment slog for so long now, I just want it to end. I really hope that I can say this year that I am debt free but I really need to knuckle down if I want that to happen. I reckon most of what I have left to pay now is interest from various debts, if I never had of borrowed I wonder where I would be now. But as I don't have a Tardis that's probably a wasted thought!

Hope you are all having a nice Monday!

  • Happy Hump Day DFW's,

Not much to report really, wishing my life away here til payday which is Friday. Monday wasnt an NSD as anticipated, I ended up in the grocery shop and spent €30.89 plus another €20 on petrol! Yesterday was a NSD though. Have a little more left in my budget than I thought I would though as overall grocery spend was much lower this fortnight as we are using up everything in the house and also we've cut out take-aways so I should be able to make another debt repayment tomorrow just before payday, it'll probably only be €50 but every little helps! Aiming for NSD's today and tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a nice Wednesday.

  • Afternoon DFW's,

Had another NSD yesterday and hoping for the same today. Tomorrow is payday so will leave grocery shop until after that. I had slightly extra in left in my bank account so paid €50 off the credit card, delighted with that!

Not much else to report, today feels so long already, clock watching here!
