Internet explorer issues

Good afternoon, I wondered whether any of you technical people could help me out with a problem which has just developed on my laptop.

Firstly, can I beg forgiveness if my choice of language is not great, I am sooo technically unminded!

History and issue one - for the last month, my laptop has suddenly decided to display pop ups both at the bottom and side of the screen. They appear to be from someone called Greatsaver, and I keep trying to get rid of them but they continue to appear. They even show on MSE - any ideas of how to get rid? I do have pop up blocker sets but they don't block these ones.

Secondly - for the last few days, each time I have tried to connect to the internet, I am unable to do so and get a message telling me that internet explorer has closed this webpage to help protect my computer. It makes no difference whether I try IE or chrome, the same message appears and continually flashes at me.

I have McAfee installed on my machine and have run both quick and full scans, which have detected nothing. It is not a problem with my broadband as DDs are both connecting fine on their lappys.

My homepage is BBC news if that makes any difference!

If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful, as at present I simply cannot get access to the web, and on the rare occasions I do, every website freezes and then stops running telling me that windows has closed the programme as it has a long script.

If it helps, the webaddress it flashes to is:

res://ieframe.dll/acr_depnx_error.htm#,res://ieframe.dll/acr_depnx_error.htm# repeated 4 times!

Thanks in advance.
