In two minds - advice?

Options
Hi
I'm thinking of visiting a nearby market to stock up on fish and meat.
This would mean taking £200 approx. out of next 2 months shopping budget.
Part of me thinks this is a good move and will stock the freezer.
The spendthrift bit of me is worried that this just my excuse for having a spending spree :rotfl:
Anyone ever do this?
Is it a wise use of my budget - or should I continue to do my weekly shop?

Thanks
Hettie

    Hi Hettie,

I think it depends on a few things.

Can you afford to use that money now or is this stretching yourself and leaving you short if something unexpected comes up?

Will you be buying the meat and fish at a cheaper price than you would on your usual shop. If so, and you can afford it, then that would be a plus.

Would you then meal plan and use the meat and fish that you have stocked up on or carry on going out and buying more stuff each week? Not as daft a question as it may sound as lots of people do do that lol.

Would you just end up eating more because you have more in. Maybe more meat meals when you would normally have a cheap veggie meal?

I do the second purse challenge on here and have a £100 which I use for bulk buying and then pay myself back when I use the items and it works great for me so if it was me I would go for it. HTH

Why don't you look for the prices of stuff online first, write it all down, then pop to the market and see if it's any cheaper. Obvious really.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
I would only do this if there was a substantial saving to be made, I prefer to keep money in hand to stock up on mega reduced meat and fish, if you get lucky and are there at the right time my local asda reduced to 75% off.

    Thanks folks.
I asked myself all of the above questions - and decidede I will give it a miss.
I get a bit panicky if my freezer etc gets low - but I should be used to it by now.
Maybe when I reach my debt free date I'll have a one off treat and re-stock - using strictly cash of course.;)
What is the second purse challenge please?
