One little step nearer..

Hi - I, like many on here I suspect, received a letter this week telling me my NT IPA was 'paid in full'. Next months pay packet will show me paying tax once again and the end of the IPA is a small step along the way to discharge...roll on the summer and AD.
I'm still 'learning' how to manage a much smaller family budget and there are still moments of frustration that my income just doesn't seem to be enough to make it to the end of the month but without the stress and despair of debts I could never have paid, life is somewhat brighter and I have had no cause to regret the course of action I took in going BR. :)

    Very well done, GArdener.

Yes, one does have to start thinking 'minimal'.....but there's no harm in that.

Does make one consider how superficial our lives were beforehand?

    Hi Gardener.

I'm in the same boat as you & have paid my last Nil Tax payment but had no letter? Does the IS send this letter out or the Solicitor firm who dealt with your Nil Tax IPA?

yep, mine is paid too. I'm looking at it as one more hurdle crossed nearer to the finish line. I can't wait for AD in September.

BR has taught me to be thoughtful and inventive with my spending habits, these days I am very familiar with all the products in Aldi and the pound stores and can make a little money go a long way. I must admit that sometimes I get very frustrated and wish I had the cash to go and have a 'splurge' on nice teats for the family but I think BR has taught them a valuable lesson in life.

As it turned out,I had in fact 'overpaid' my NT IPA....[at the start, not the end]...and got a nice surprise some time later, with a hefty refund from Moonbeever.

    Bless 'em!

Usually I get a letter/receipt within 3 days of my payment (I did it by card payment on the Clarke Willmott website)
This month, the letter didn't appear until nearly 10 days after the payment and it was different in that is reminded me to cancel any DD etc as my " IPA was paid in full" :)

Me too! but sometimes its about quality of life - I can get by with 'savers' brands and supermarket 'fashion' clothes but sometimes I dream of being able to take a holiday - nothing fancy, a week's 2star on the costa-del-anywhere would be nice but as a single parent, working full time earning less than the 'average' wage - its not going to happen any time soon.

i got a letter stating my nt tax code would change but still haven't heard anything from anyone about making the payment to them.

Is there a time limit for this to be done before AD. Still a few weeks to go!

Hi nire - if you have continued to pay tax though your salary as normal (despite being told you would get an NT code) then the OR can simply claim the money direct from HMRC
The NT code is only possible for the financial year that you went BR so if it hasn't actually been applied by now then its too late. Any IPA, NT or regular IPA has to be set prior to AD.
If your code did change, and you got the money you would have paid in tax in your pay packet, then you must keep that to one side until the OR's agent arranges to collect it, even if they don't get round to it until after the end of the finance year - I don't think AD means you can keep it.

Please check your April payslip just in case, it has been known for the NT code to be applied in the new tax year in error. If that happens, you need to phone HMRC so they can correct.

I pay over the phone & always had a letter of receipt from CW the next day which was why I asked as this time I heard nothing, but as you've stated it took longer this time round as it had informed you that your IPA was paid in full maybe this is why i haven't received a letter myself yet. Only paid my last payment this week also & I'm sure its not just me & you they have had to notify of this either. I'll look out for a confirmation letter coming in the post.
