  • You need to do more research - the fees have gone up dramatically - £75 for them to send a letter and as soon as they call it adds another MINIMUM £235, councils no longer have to send a 14 day warning letter alerting people and the newly named "enforcement agents" are the ones who will decide if a debtor is "vulnerable" because the government hasn't got around to rewriting the National Standards yet!

Oh - and if you're unfortunate enough to, for example, park your car near where a debtor lives, or buy it from a debtor - the Enforcement Agent can "take control" of it - and you could have to pay the value of it into the car while you establish to their satisfaction that YOUR possessions have nothing to do with someone else's debt.

Even bailiffs/HCEOs are speaking out against it.

Why would such a stupid law be passed? why should a random person have to pay to get their car back when the debt has nothing to do with them?

BBC Panorama did a program tonight on bailiff tactics.

They just make up fees and charges, like a van for collecting goods that did not exist. Three parking tickets means they bill you for three bailiff visits per visit.
