I'm in shock.

Options
Shocked and needed to vent!

I am all for money saving, isn't most people these days?

I have a 'kitty' which is what we have for presents such as birthdays, xmas, mothers day, fathers day etc etc.

Recently there was a sale held via a company I shop with. The discount was genuine so I decided to stock up. Using my Kitty I purchased 2 x fathers day presents, 14 x female xmas presents, 11 x male xmas presents.

I'd have thought that companies would welcome clearing their stock. Obviously not!

Today I have received an email which says that since they have looked at my account, they feel that my purchases are of the same pattern as a trader, therefore I can not purchase with them anymore & my account has been closed down

I wanted to return a couple of my purchases because I ordered in a rush, and I ordered incorrectly. I now don't have the option to return my purchases, because they have closed my account and I can not access it.

Whoever made the assumption that I am a trader, is very wrong. I am simply finding times tight, and we try to use sales, bargain food sites etc. I do order in bulk if it is a bargain. Does this make me a trader? I am shocked!!!!!!

    Were these online purchases?

Have you called them? You should still have the right to return if the contract gave you the right to, or under your legal rights.

Were all the items you purchased the same? I can see their point.

Very odd....please give more details...what company were you using?? How much have you spent with them recently? What are their t&c's about bulk purchases????
So much detail missing that its hard to comment further.

I ordered 2 x manual razors (one for my dad and one for my father in law) and I ordered 14 female gift sets (various ones) and 11 male gift sets (various ones). I purchased online and across 2 orders. Bulk buying this years presents in the sales is a way for me to save money. They don't state anything in the T&C's about bulk buying or anything about quantities. I have been into shops in the highstreet and filled my basket with xmas goods and I have never had a problem. The 2 orders together added up to £193. The closure of my account was followed by an email which stated that my purchases was similar to the pattern of traders!

Why should a company care whether it's traders or not?

They've offered items for purchase at a price which they chose.

Presumably they want to clear their stock, so you're doing them a favour, and ordering something a dozen of a couple of items isn't going to turn you into Del Trotter, is it?

It's Boots. They've done this to others.

Pity they didn't do this at the sale at Christmas - madness with huge bags everywhere and people bashing others with their hauls. A limit per person would have been great.

Odd to do it online though!

Because it can alienate other customers if they allow certain customers to clear the shelves of special offers.

Why waste money on such stupid, pointless, overpriced, thoughtless gifts anyway?

You might as well give people a 4-pack of Mars Bars and be done with it.
