Natwest Bank Account

Just a quick note regards my NatWest account, I have been informed today that I can keep my account with them following my recent bankruptcy the only thing is that its being down graded to a basic account and closing my savings account. Good news cos I really didn't want to change to another bank with all the hassle that goes with transferring D/D. Hope they let me keep the internet banking as there was no mention of this and its still working at the moment.

Good news miss prim as unfortunately they don't do this for everyone

  • I hated my natwest step account, the rubbish debit card can only be used in natwest / RBS cash machines, that caught me out so many times

I didn't owe natwest a penny but they were very quick to shut my account down. I went BR on a Wednesday, by Sunday they had blocked my internet banking and Tuesday I got a letter to say they had shut my account down, good riddance I said!

I would get myself down to barclays if I were you in case head office shuts your account down. Even though barclays don't let you have internet banking whilst undischarged at least you won't get stranded with no access to your money if the natwest machine is out of order!

  • and one more to bear in mind

I have known people in the past promised the world by natwest & their accounts once bankrupt...only later to close basic account and leave you stuck

Hi there, the letter i received today was from head office and in another envelope was a basic account debit card,so hopefully they close the account on me without warning and as advised by others i have already got a barclays account open just in case it all turns sour with natwest.

Just to be on the safe side think i will use the barclays account for my every day living and only have enough to cover D/D in the other.

That sounds like a good plan :D

    Thank you H.

opened the barclays account a couple of weeks after the bankruptcy and they have let me have mobile banking, the lovely lady in branch even set it up for me on my phone, i'm a bit phone-a-phobic, in other words rubbish with technology:rotfl:
  • I'm glad they let you have mobile banking, it's a great service! I am (touch wood) one of the lucky ones who slipped through the no online banking net. It's great that it's only 5 numbers between me and my (pathetic  ) bank balance!

I still have my NatWest account & internet banking. Went BR 5 months ago & am using my Co-op account for day to day stuff. I expected the NatWest ac to be shut down, but it's still there with my £14 balance. Maybe they just miss some people? Interesting to see how long it stays live, as I'd love to use it again after AD.
