Old Style Daily Thread Friday 4th April

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

TGIF and DH breaks up for Easter today so I have 3 long weekends in the next 2 weeks!

Lamb mince curry for dinner with Southern Indian style cauliflower mash. Am addicted to curry and cauliflower at the moment!

Have some good value vouchers from the M shop so will go and see if there are any irresistible offers on the way home. I used to think I had to use vouchers to save money but have learned sometimes they make me spend more on things I don't actually need, so walk around the shop adding up the offers before using them now :D

Julie - I am sorry to hear about the new op needed, I hope this comes around quickly and sorts your knee out x

JackieO - not long to go now! x

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, very cloudy and overcast but no rain with a cool breeze.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces with black bean sauce, special fried rice, and cous cous – was a really nice change, although there wasn’t a huge amount of rice, so will need to adjust the quantities next time. Tonight will be something easy – possibly the chicken and bacon kievs and chips for the menfolk. I’ll have either fish and jacket potato or omelette and salad.

Got some of the chores done yesterday, managed to get a big line of washing dry on the line, have already put some more out but it’s very dark and overcast but windy so don’t know if it will get dry before it rains.

We had a bit of a nightmare with DS2 going on his school trip yesterday – they were to go into school as normal until 12 noon when they would be allowed home to get changed, have something eat etc and then be back at school at 3.30pm ready to leave at 3.45pm. I dropped him in at school in the morning, called in at SM on the way back to get some fresh rolls, drinks etc for his pack up, got home finished his packing, when I get a phone call, there’s been a change of plan Calais is shut due to strike, can you bring my bag and everything to school now we’re leaving in about half an hour! Luckily he’d already packed his day rucksack and it was just his clothes bag that needed sorting, and I’d just finished doing it, so hastily made his pack up put all his money etc into his bag and hoped I’d packed everything – he text later to say they were then waiting to get on the tunnel and that he hadn’t got his earphones – but if that’s all we’ve forgotten in the rush to then get ready that’s not bad! Hoping they arrive safely and then have a good time.

I have all the normal chores to do today – I’ll be heading for town and the bank shortly, then food shopping. I’ll be then returning home to finish the washing, drying and ironing, and at some point do some baking.

Have a good Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all
Sorry for being MIA, but time seems to have grown wings around here.

Well from being in the distance, DS gets married tomorrow :D. I have been beautified (well as far as they can, miracles don't happen :o) and I am off to the hairdressers to have my hair put up this morning, then we head off down to Stevenage. The weather is looking dreadful, but what will be will be , it has gone from Sunshine forecast at the beginning of the week, to overcast, to drizzle, to heavy rain! Fingers crossed they have got it wrong. I did buy a matching umbrella, so I am prepared, just thinking of popping my trench oat and long boots in now, just to get into church, as my shoes are satin, though luckily I did get a pair of matching flatties for dancing in, so may need to use those.

Housework, will look at that on Monday. Breakfast SF Shake. Lunch either another SF shake, or whatever wants eating up out of the fridge:eek::eek:

Have a great weekend, everyone. Hope life is being good to you. HH Get some rest. LW. Enjoy your fur baby. ((Hugs)), Spoons, Positive Vibes, and Hi-5's, all round, but specially for Jayward, whose back is not at all good ATM. Take care everyone. DG

P.s. We crossed, but everything crossed for Monday for you Molly. X

    Hi everyone,

I hope everything goes well for you Molly and Jackie, with your ops and Julie when you get a date. Donny, good luck with the wedding and fingers crossed for the weather.

I'm going through a flare up at the moment and am walking round like a little old lady, I didn't get to sleep till 4. So not a lot is happening chez moi, it sound lazy but I have tried ignoring it and carrying on as normal and it makes things worse. The only thing that helps is rest but it makes me sound like a Victorian lady with the vapours, so frustrating.

I will try to do a bit of sewing later. DH is working from home again, although hopefully not too much because he's been up till 1.30 the last two mornings working.

    Have a good day.

    Morning all.

I do wish MSE would fix these damn quotes as I have to enter the code manually. Please say I'm not the only one with this problem.

We will be thinking of you Molly.

Donny-gal. Love the shoes. Hope all goes well tomorrow. At least the cloud of dust seems to be at thing of the past. Or it is here anyway.

Busy day for me, just the usual Friday chores, the pork is in the slow cooker as I type.

I want to find out how much we are owing on the gas and electric. I'm sure I might have missed the settlement quarter but at least I will know where we stand.

Doctors appointment for me at 5. Cant wait.:(

    Onwards and forwards,
    have a great day all.

LW - It must be nice to switch off the boring people!
:D I don't often do it; but there was one classic time, we were giving our pal C and another chap, J a lift to the CAMRA meeting; now C and J could talk for England and Scotland respectively, and were both going full tilt in the back of the car, talking over each other, and generally giving me a headache, so I did switch off then.:o The other time I tend to use the facility is when Mr LW is on one of the gamers' websites (RPG games, not gambling, I hasten to add) and he listens to webcasts by an American woman with a particularly grating voice (think "nails on a blackboard"). It means he can listen to the latest developments in the gaming world, and I don't feel the need to take a sledgehammer to his pc.:D

Barrow-loads of posi-vibes coming your way, Molly. x

Judi quotes seem to be working as expected for me.

We'll need to get our skates on tomorrow morning, and get the F&V run done early, as my little Princesses are arriving at 10:30 tomorrow.:T Pandora (aka Pandy) is a Coton de Tulear and Patsy is a Lhasa Apso. They've stayed before, so hopefully they'll settle in quickly; I'll be looking after them for 16 days - they'll be here for my birthday!:D
    Here's a pic I took last time they stayed.:o

Another grey and dismal day here :(

Having a CBA day which is not really like me.

Just had a letter to have a blood test but they can't do it until next month, so I will ask at the diabetic clinic next week and see if they will do it there.
