You do not need to do a course - you can learn what you need yourself and just book exams.

I assume you have MS Office installed on your computer - just get a book for ECDL syllabus and off you go, learn yourself.

    Way cheaper and practical
  • I work in the NHS as admin and I have RSA III typing, word processing, audio typing, mail merge. I did my ECDL with the NHS but as said above they moved on to Microsoft Office Specialist exams.

I would recommend the OCR qualifications as they will stand you in good stead for admin work within the NHS.

My nan paid for my exams when I was 18 as I didn't know what job I wanted to do and I feel they have always helped me on applications to get interviews.

But it really doesn't matter what trainer or exam certificate you hold.

What counts is that you have equivalent skills and experience. And this is appraised in three ways, through the application form, during the interview and often a typing test or intray exercise.

I don't have any RSA, or ECDL qualifications.

What I do have is A* in office applications (GCSE) and an A level in computer science. And then also work experience.
