Hi there, could anyone advise me which foreign exchange broker has the best deal (lowest fee and good exchange rate) to transfer pound to Morocco Dirham? Thanks!

I think martin has set up a currency evaluation tool somewhere on this site, check the front page.
The rates change daily so you'll need to do some research on the net and find out for yourself!
I use https://www.travelex.co.uk a lot as they tend to have pretty good rates. but like I say, it changes every day so it'll be different every day. You'll need to do some research on this!0 -
The Moroccan Dirham, like many African currencies, is forbidden, i.e. you cannot get it outside Morocco. Therefore you'll have to take your sterling and change it up there (make sure you keep receipts to change it back when you leave, as you can't exchange it in the UK).
They'll probably like US dollars as well, which are particularly strong as well at the moment, if it was me I'd take a little of sterling and a little of US.
With regards to traveller's cheques, take USD or sterling. If they're a 'just in case' precaution, take sterling as you get a guaranteed rate of return when you get home to the UK, unlike the dollar where there are differing rates for buying and selling.
Hope that helps!...I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

Don't buy US$ T/C as you'll lose out twice on exchange commissions, just take Sterling cash & T/C's and use a CC for major expenditures such as hotels & car rental. If you already have any Euros take them as they'll be welcome too.0

In theory yes - but you can still buy it at some UK airports when you're leaving! We travelled there late last year and bought it from Gatwick on the way out, from Travelex I believe. I think it's only on the airside currency shops - presumably the theory is once you've cleared security you've officially left the UK so they can sell closed currencies. It was the same with Vietnamese Dong, we thought we'd only be able to get it there but could buy it from Heathrow.0 -
Thank you all. I need to transfer a large lumpsum to buy a property in Morocco that's why I need to find a foreign exchange broker to do the TT for me.0

Ah hang on a minute, I think we've all assumed you're looking to buy travel money! Sending a large lump internationally is a different kettle of fish entirely.
You'll need a different type of company to do that, I use https://www.tranzfers.com to send money internationally but I don't think they cover Africa.
are you transferring into a bank account there? It might be safer (if a little more expensive in terms of fees) to use a bank for this kind of transfer.0 -

This used to be the case but not anymore. Also, it is available at both Landside and Airsdie BUT it is a very difficult currency to get hold of right now, for anybody. I work in foreign exchange and we can not order it in from our dealers so we can not guarantee it for our customers.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700
