Another Filling !

Hi Guys. Went for my 6 month check up today. Last time I was there the Dentist mentioned a partial crown ( I think) cos the tooth has been filled 3 times and the filling comes out after a week or so. So I thought that would happen. But she said I have to go back in 3 weeks to have it filled again. What's the point of filling it all the time when it doesn't last ?

No idea. Need to see it too even begin to guess.

You need to ask this question to your dentist.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

    Thanks. Don't dare ask :)
She originally said she would put a crown, then the next appointment she said she would put a partial now she says a filling again. Then they tried to take x-rays 3 times and the thing they put in your mouth kept slipping ( I didn't move a cm) so they gave up.
And they always write scale and polish on the form and I've never had one yet

Your last sentence makes me think that they're a dodgy practice, not to mention incompetent (who messes up taking a dental x-ray !!). I wonder if they claimed from the NHS for an X-ray you didn't have ??

And I also wonder if they just don't make enough "profit margin" to do crowns under the NHS (if you're an NHS patient ?) so they keep on filling the tooth.

Definitely find another dentist AND if you did see them under the NHS, I think they need to be told that the dentist might be claiming for work they're not doing (not to mention that you're concerned about their competence). Go to the NHS website www.nhs.uk and follow the Complaints link.
