Thursday 3rd April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending

    Eighth Anniversary Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all,

The pollution is shocking here! Really creepy looking out the window and seeing it. Hope anyone else in the affected areas is keeping safe.

Yesterday's big MSE event was swapping the legs around on the cats' scratching post to avoid having to buy a new one! They only ever go for one of the legs for some reason. Turning it around doesn't work, but swapping the legs has. They had a good beast of it when it was done.

Today all meals will be from what we've got in, planned, trawling the freebie board, and university work, which at least keeps me out of spendy trouble!

Have a good day all :)

    Morning Money savers,
Busy day planned, but got a nice early start so here goes with today's list of money saving things:
*Got up early & did the ironing while still on Economy 7 tariff. Done.
*Saved a bit more energy by sharing bath water & turning off dehumidifyer as soon as steam had cleared. Done.
*Finish 3rd pair of little socks for the knitting order I'm working on & cast on next pair.
*Round up last of this week's veg that needs using & prep for tonight (already made meal as made an extra cottage pie yesterday) Done.
*Mend blind in spare room so that we don't have to buy a new one before our guests come to stay. Done. (Had been putting it off for weeks. How long did it take me? 5 mins!)
*Make bread rolls. (Dough currently churning in BM)
    *Make a loaf.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks. (Snacks done)
*Plant out sweetpeas which I've been hardening off this week. (Free seed).
*Pot up more seedlings before I get totally inundated! (mostly free seeds)
*Check for surveys. Done. (Onepoll total over £30 now so just on the last leg before cash-in)
*Top up worm composter with kitchen scraps as am working towards getting it to full production again for the growing season.
*Look at next week's meal plans & start shopping list.
*Put colour on hair (£5 a time approx rather than the salon prices I used to pay).
Think that's it, as the greenhouse jobs will take me a big part of the day.
Have a good day everyone. Don't be suckered into parting with pennies unnecessarily. We caught a bit of a TV shopping channel last night (not something we generally watch) & we couldn't believe the silly prices for food items.....i.e £18 for a tin of biscuits....OK, pretty tin, but you could get 3 tins from Waitrose for that sort of money. Then there was 4 packs of 'premium popcorn' for £15 - Yes, sure it was very nice, but it'd have to be bloody gold-plated & come with a free date with Sean Bean to get me to part with that kind of silly money! (& even then, I'd have to think about it.......)
    See you.

    Hi All

The pollution is not too bad here - grey and misty looking I did cycle into work today which has resulted in worse chapped lips and runny nose - possibly pollution related? but also money saving

One load of washing done on low and on the line for work later

Pick up tips from restaurant tonight which is great - as got £38 in the bank to last until the 14th eeek

House sale has stalled - solicitor has told buyer that the 80 yr lease we have on our house is too short grrr so had to request cost of leasehold extension/purchase which will take at least a week to come through

£134 paid off debt this month so far

put tumble dryer up for sale but no interest yet - wrong time of year now probably

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone.
A bit overcast and gray today.

Done the washing and out on line.
    Washed the breakfast dishes.

Just changed our fuel tariff to save a small £.
With SP you can change tariffs using Freedom to change at no leaving cost mid tie in.
I am changing to SP online fixed price energy June 2015.

Moving on, I am going to look at broadband compare as our current deal ends on 23rd April.

Postie has been and cheered me up with some FREE perfume = Fantasy/ Britney Spears.

Knitting to carry on with. 1/2 way up first sleeve now.

Nothing much exciting. Not working so not spending becomes easy = stay away from all shops :0)
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
