Student Loans - closing statement / written confirmation

Options
Hi,

In March I finally paid off the remainder of my student loans.

These were the old style mortgage loans.

One was with Thesis Servicing and the other two with Erudio.

I got a settlement figure for each and paid them off in full over the phone by card and got authorisation codes. The payments have gone through.

Do you get sent some sort of final statement when you pay these off? I did ask for written confirmation but neither has a good track record with communication/letters.

All I have had so far is a brief email from Erudio saying the account has been paid and is closed (not really official looking and doesn't say the loan numbers etc) and nothing from Thesis Servicing other than a standard letter saying my Direct Debit has been cancelled.

  • Hi

I got a letter confirming that I paid mine off, I did have to pester a couple of times so it would be worth chasing it up if you don't get one through
    Thanks to all that post!

I have the same loans with Erudio. My understanding is they paid 5p on the pound to buy them from SLC! In your experience, are Erudio willing to negotiate on the settlement figure, or are they only accepting full payment?
  • Apparently the want the full amount.
Wish the SLC and offered the students 5p on the pound to pay of the loans instead of selling them to these parasitic leeches.
