Also is your interest frozen on your debts? How much do you owe?I found a self managed DMP much better than stepchange.I got all the interest frozen and charges refunded too. They also accepted my payments straight away and the beauty of a self managed DMP is I can snowball the debts and pay extra towards them when I have it.Perhaps you should find out the exact balances and interest rates on the debts and post up an SOA?

From past correspondence (which is now several years old) the interest has been frozen.

As I've already explained, I'm having problems finding out the exact balances as my debts appear to have been moved from department to department over the years and I cannot seem to get hold of a single person who can give me any information.

I do feel for you-it sounds like you're trying very hard. You must live in a very bad area for employment:( Are you crafty at all?Can you sew or knit?
Maybe there are some areas you could cut back on? (I spent £317 on groceries last month which surprised me cos I was spending £500 a month before)

I know how frustrating that can be but if SC are paying them then they must be getting to the right place or they would be sent back-do you use the online part of SC?All the details will be on there-one of my debts got moved 3 times and I ended up ringing the debt agencies one by one-they all gave me details who it had been passed on to and I got to the right person eventually.

Sorry just read info above-I found that for each company the reference number would change completely and the only way they could track down my debts was to use the original reference eg original credit card number, catalogue reference number etc, not the ref number from debt collections etc.

    Hi,
It sounds like you're in a tough situation. I agree with some of the other posters that you do need to check your balances are all correct; we moved house recently and SC provided me with a list of all our creditors' contact details. Also, on the online SC function you can look at the individual debts, and alongside the name of the creditor will be the most recent account number (these can change as debts are passed from a creditor to another collector) and this is the info used to get the SC payment to the right place, so must be up to date.

    Best of luck, SAAC
