Your friend is going about this bum-backwards, to be honest. He should write to the DCA, giving them his new address and using the Prove It letter on this site. He should also advise them that he will now only communicate in writing and any further telephone calls will be considered harassment.

Once he starts putting it all in writing, you'd be amazed how unwilling they are to keep pushing the half-truths and misinformation.

They have to prove it. They have to communicate with him in an acceptable manner. He has to deal with this like a grown up. If he acknowledges that the debt is his, then he needs to contact them, in writing, to arrange a payment plan via standing order. Under no circumstances should he agree to a direct debit - standing orders give him the control.

Once the plan is in place, he needs to stick to it. Make it affordable for him, don't let him over-commit.

    Good luck

    Stop phoning the DCA.

Write, pen and paper (or lap-top) using the formats provided by Tixy. Send two copies from two different post offices, with free certifiates of posting.

Insist they remove his work number and put the mobile on silent during wirking hours.

Just waiting to see how NDL etc amend their versions. May as well have them match if they are good enough.

    Now done. :)

    This works, do it.

You and your friend needs to realise that you are not dealing with nice people. They want your money and they will say anything to get it. Lies, half truths and misleading letters are all in the their armoury.

Do as advised and then come back on here when you get a reply.
