When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending:money:

My bedroom's a bit messy, and I think I might already own (or be able to make) a couple of things I'm thinking of buying, so I'm going to tidy and organise it. Also making soup which should cover a couple of meals for less than 25p per portion and use up the end of 5kg bag of potatoes which are going soft. Return books to the library, late fees.....0

Afternoon Penny savers,
Bit of a tardy start this morning but have since made up for it. Today's list of small money-saving things:
*mr f working at base all day so went on the bus (works out cheaper than using our petrol)
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Made 2 cottage pies for today & tomorrow. Added 50g red lentils to the meat mixture to thicken & stretch it. Prepped veg to go with it, which has used up a number of things which were getting ready.
*3 leftover tortilla wraps in bread bin not yet at the solid cardboard stage. Used one to make a quesadillia for my lunch & froze the others for next time I make fajhitas.
*Found a stamp I'd forgotten about so that was one less to buy for posting our Easter cards today.
*Paid in a cheque & withdrew cash to pay our remaining Savings Piggies this month.
*Did last of this week's laundry overnight on cheap tariff. All drying nicely on the line.
*Went to get my hair cut - £10 for a lovely cut. I used to pay eye-watering amounts for hair cut/style/colour, etc. I do my own colour now at about £5 a month & get about 4 cuts a year at £10 a time.
*Finished knitting another little pair of socks for the knitting order I'm working on. Have completed half of it now. Cast on 3rd pair tonight.
*Re-sow peas. First sowing not very successful, lots of rotting, so going to do a 2nd batch (all free seeds, so haven't lost anything, just annoying)
*Pot up more flower seedlings - this will need to be an ongoing job for the next fortnight.
*Made free bird food by mixing old cheapo cat biscuits (which I bought to feed 2 local moggies who didn't seem to be getting fed at home at the time) with water to soak, then spread it on the ground. The blackbirds loved it!
OK, must get myself down to the greenhouse with a coffee to get the gardening jobs on this list done. Hope everyone having a good day. I almost went into town today as I have the car, but changed my mind as I really don't want to be spending a £ this month that isn't already planned. Rosy glow of virtue! Oh yes!

Today I've downloaded the free trial version of You Need A Budget. I'm still learning to navigate it but it seems excellent. A real eye opener. I've made some changes already!Total debt March 2014: £11,194. Now £4,198.

Hi everyone, much colder today and ended in rain - and my mood has matched it today.
I felt so positive yesterday, but this debt busting lark is a roller coaster and I'm constantly either really happy or down in the dumps.
Had to go shopping after the school run today, three shops in total to get a mixture of the best deals and everything on my list. By the time we had got home and put everything away, I had lost any motivation to do anything else (and there is loads to be done). I also think that, even though my spending wasn't particularly high, I actually think I feel down when I spend. This is a total turnaround as I used to spend for the buzz.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day, and other than a prescription, should be a NSD, so maybe it will be a good mood day!
Today's list:
All meals from stored
Lunches prepared for tomorrow
One wash on
Heating is on (cracked about an hour ago, and it still doesn't feel any warmer yet)
Shopping - got some more things to put away for our hols next week
That's it, still need to check bank, hopefully last couple of DD's will have gone out for this month.SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89

Applied for and accepted for Post Office credit card for fee free foreign transactions and £42 cashback.
Applied for AMEX 5% cashback spending card to buy my annual train season ticket on, thus saving lots of dosh in itself plus getting cashback. Currently awaiting a decision.
Applied for and was accepted for a Lloyds credit card with 0% on balance transfers for 15 months and 0.7% fee. Therefore will transfer from my AMEX card if accepted and end up with 4.3% cashback on nearly £2k for my season ticket. If I do not get the AMEX card, will use this for a balance transfer from another card whose 0% deal ends in a few months.0
