Old Style Daily Thread Wednesday 2nd April

Time_to_face_the_music

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning TTFTM and all who follow .Well great day yesterday I had a phone call from my consultants office in the late afternoon and I go in for my first op. this Sunday morning at 07.00.a.m.
:):)
Then last night we came third in the pub quiz which was a miracle as we are trying to win some more wine for the U3A raffle and we hadn't been doing so well .
I am so excited about getting my op.date I could hardly sleep, and was up at silly o'clock this morning drinking tea:):)No doubt I will have a nod later today.I want to get to the hairdresser this morning and try to get a trim as I am slowly disappearing under a mop of hair.
Then having just logged on I had an email from my cousin in Perth ,her and her husband are coming over in the late summer for a big family reunion in Scotland so I shall be whizzing off there in September. pretty exciting year ahead for me.
Well I must jog off and get the coffee on to keep me going this morning.Looks as though its going to be another warm day in Kent
have a good day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

P.S. Happy Birthday Butterflybrain Hope you get spolied to bits honey XX0 -
Good morning JackieO and all who follow
Great news about the op date - no wonder you are up early and excited :j
It was very warm here yesterday and overnight, still have the winter duvet on and I know if I remove it, we will probably have April snow!
I really must try and get a doctor's appointment, I have yet another eye infection or something wrong with my eye. Did some reading yesterday and think it could be associated with my genetic syndrome. I need to try and find a new consultant too.
Better get a move on so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning All
Another good night's sleep here, don't know what's going on!! I did go for a long walk up a very steep hill yesterday, gosh I am so unfit! My legs were really aching, surprised I can walk this morning!
Washing on airers and DW on, forgot to put it on last night and don't like to put it on when I go to bed. The roof is coming on now, they have just about finished the dormer window we should see quicker progress soon.
JackieO - Great news about your op, quite quick too. My very best wishes to you.
Hugs to those feeling under the weather, hope you are all having better weather than us, damp and overcast again here.
I'm off to the Science Centre again today (3rd time this year) with school. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Pleased to hear you have your op date JackieO.
Early sun peeping through down here, just the day for a bike ride along the coast I think. Need to go to the Bandq for some bits as it's discount day.
Quiz tonight, we won last month, a tube of smarties each, not as impressive as JackieO. A good time had by all and we usually raise about £300 for local charities.
Italian sausage pasta for tea tonight, we have a fantastic local butcher luckily who make their own, they are very tasty (the sausages not the butchers)!
Take care all and hugs where needed.Carolbee0 -
Morning everyone
JackieO – hope it all goes well x
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, very cloudy and overcast but no rain or wind, not cold though.
DH up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, fried bread (menfolk had this) and beans. Ice cream for dessert for those that wanted some. Remembered to get the beef out of the freezer so that will be made into stew later and I’ll serve it with mash and veg – and dumplings.
Work was nowhere near as busy as expected although was continuous – I’m only working until lunchtime today then on days’ off. DS2 is going off to Barcelona on his school trip tomorrow afternoon, so he’s now getting excited and I need to pack his bag so he’s all ready.
As we were continuously busy yesterday I didn’t get chance to let my mind wander so mood stayed good all day – feel now that I’m getting there and just need to keep busy.
Had a nice bit of luck again last on the online gaming, withdrawn the winnings and waiting for it to hit the bank account.
Keep safe and well x

Happy Birthday Butterfly Brain! :bdaycake:
Great news JackieO :T

I haven't had much to say lately. Mr tru was off work last week, so as usual I was dragged out of the house every dayZoos, farms and a walk down the forest. I was knackered
The house was a mess by the end of the week. I've tidied and cleaned and feel relaxed again, lol.
I've repotted the broad beans and some more tomatoes. The beans could go out onto the veg patch, but the fence at the bottom of the garden needs replacing right now – we repaired temporarily but it's beyond that now – and they'll just get trampled. We priced up for new posts etc, went to order and they're out of stock EVERYWHERE. We were hoping to get started on saturday. Our landscaper friend (who orders directly from manufacturers) said as soon as something is made, it's sold and some of his customers are having to wait. Lots of damaged fences from the storms and everyone's fixing/replacing at the moment
I have a ton of yarn, I got it all out and stared at it the other day, hoping for inspiration to strikeIt didn't, but my nan spied the blanket I'm making for miss tru and said she'd like one. So I've started on that. So I'm getting orders but only from people I wouldn't dream of charging :rotfl:
The plumber is coming on saturday (will be here friday if time permits) to install the new boiler. I can't wait, we're having to top up this cronky old thing every day to keep it running
The weather's a bit nothing-y today, but it's not raining so I'll put some washing out, get on with the garden and clean out the hen house.

Morning All
Dissapointing weather here today compared with yesterday. Think it is just fog/mist though, wasn't expecting the smog this high up (e.mids) but you never know.
jackieO - fantastic news about your OP :T
Went for a run last night, only did 2 miles but that felt enough yesterday. Tea was roast dinner which was nice, and the brisket was OK, perfer when I do us topside/silverside though. Tonight's tea is southern chicken and chips. Will do my meal plan for Thursday - Wednesday and then get my shopping list ready. Hoping I should not need much other than the basics as did a very large shop last week.
Hoping to pick some fresh wool up tomorrow and try arm knitting!
Off to see my Grandma and Grandad after work and have a cuppa, they got back off holiday at the weekend so not seen them for a couple of weeks.
Work is quiet yet again:mad: - trying not to moan - glad I only work 3 days here and today is my friday :j
Have a lovely day everyone:DChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Morning all,
Bright here and the sun has made an appearance. Washing on the line. Just been to pay in some cheques and was very happy someone gave me their car park ticket, so it cost me nought
DS2 has gone to Geography lesson and is seeing the Physics teacher about getting the text books he handed in, back again and what work he needs to cover. Sat him down yesterday afternoon and had a good old chat about how he is feeling and what he is going to do next. Made me feel a little bit better, so much so I actually slept quite well last night.
Jackie O - wow that date was really quick!
Butterflybrain - Happy Birthday
Have a happy day0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful sunshine here hiding behind a mist of fog.... Probably the sand from the sahara but its warm nonetheless.:D
Usual chores daily chores to do today plus the laundry. Ive stripped the beds.
Late going to bed, early waking up. I'll be knackered by tea time.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi everyone,
I've had a headache since last night, so I didn't go swimming this morning, I went back to bed instead.
It was an unsuccessful day on the sewing front, I tried on the muslin I made for the tunic and didn't like it, so that's gone on the backburner. I'm annoyed because patterns are so expensive, and I'd bought the fabric as well, I shall probably use it in a quilt back now. I also started to quilt DS' quilt and didn't like that, so ripped out all the stitches, I think I'll do a spiral pattern on it instead.
DH is working from home today.
Happy birthday BB, good news, Jackie.
Have a good day.0
