DMPs

I've registered with StepChange to consolidate my debts (approx £5k) and have received the paperwork etc.

But, honestly I've been avoiding the whole situation until now and my debts have been passed on to various other companies - I can't actually figure out what is what!

I am ready to sort this out now and begin paying what I need to pay, but I can't work out how to fill out the information that SC need.

Any ideas or tips? I will contact SC as well to explain but wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation?

Register to Noddle to receive a free credit report. See what debts have been passed to Collection Agencies. Give them a ring and advise you're going on a DMP with SC. Ask for the reference number and let SC know what they are

Send them proof of income, whatever your highest income is.

Send the Agreement and DDM back as well. I think that's it really!

That's the thing, I don't know which agency is what debt to be able to fill it in.

I have letters from about 20 different companies, when I only have 4 debts. They all say varying amounts because they've tried to offer settlements etc. and none of them match up!

Talk to Stepchange - they are used to this sort of problem and will help you sort it out. This may seem like so much hassle, but you are going to feel so much better when the DMP is up and running that it is worth it!

Put them in date order. Each letter should state who the original creditor is, so you can match them up together.

Alternatively, just send them all in to StepChange. Let them work it out!
