Job Application help

I couldn't really think of a title which better explained what I'm asking, if I think of one I'll change it!
Basically I've found an advertisement for a job which made me > < It's definitely something I could do, amazing experience and I can run it alongside my volunteer work.
The only problem is, my age and experience or lack thereof. How do I make the point to an employer that I'm young but really keen to learn?
I have related experience but no paid work experience. I've only ever worked in retail and about two months in a bank.
Any advice?

Experience is experience, wherever you got it, and if it's relevant experience it certainly doesn't matter if you didn't get it through paid work.
How do you have to apply, on an application form or by CV? If it's CV, I think the buzz word is 'skills-based' but others are better placed to advise you. If it's application form, I just used to put my voluntary work in with my employment, and say which was which. I got a very good job based on experience gained in the PTA etc etc etc.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Always remember to sell the benefits... never focus on a lack of experience.. always look for positive spins..
'Not got much experience but willing to learn' can become 'Youthful, highly motivated and looking for a long term career'0 -
Your experience gained through voluntary work will definitely count - it's got me a number of jobs I wouldn't ahve had a hope of getting based soley on my paid employemnt history. Simply focus on your skills, knowlege, and experience (however gained). The employer will be more interested in what you can do than how your learned to do it.0

I got a decent job at the Council based on my time as a Voluntary Church Treasurer. It doesn't matter how you gined the skills as long as you have them.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
As all the other guys have said - sell yourself. I never had any experience when I got my job - basicaly straight out of college with a few retail posts and that was it.
Mention what kind of responsibilities you have had and how that has helped you grow and develop skills in organising, administration etc etc. Mention difficult situations and how you have got around them again mention the skills you used to do this.
Show no fear of difficult or alien task and show your keeness to learn.
You are bright, intelligent and fiercely eager to learn so go in there like a tiger and wow them!
The best thing I have ever said to get a job really was along the lines of - I will give 100% percent and I will not let you down. Worked for me.
All the very best of luck!Dirty Cash- DEBT BATTLER:mad:0
