Renting Post Bankruptcy

I am almost 2 years post discharge and currently in a rental property which I have been in for the last three years since just a few months before I went Bankrupt. I am wanting to move to another property but I am worried about credit checks etc.

I have cleaned up my credit file, I have a couple of credit cards with excellent payment histories on them and have a perfect record with my current landlord, should I expect any problems?

What are other peoples experiences with renting post Bankruptcy through an agent?

Thanks

it will vary from one agent to another, your credit cards etc wont matter as any check only sees public information so any ccjs or bankruptcy.

There are lots of posts on people saying you need to be upfront, landlords/agents will rent to you but will probably ask for a guarantor and/or 6 mnths rent upfront.

Depends on your circumstances, good luck

A good reference from your current landlord is your most valuable asset - if you always paid the rent on time, didn't upset the neighbours and looked after the property - then get a reference - its worth way more than your credit score with most landlords.

Call a few agents today and seems the concensus is 6 months rent upfront of garunter untill the six years is up.

They are most likely to ask for a guarantor because if you fail the credit checks its either that or lots of rent up front.

I had to get a guarantor for my rented flat and the letting agent also checked out my guarantors finances and credit, had to give them payslips/bank statements etc for the guarantor
