Wedding guest outfit stress :-/

My sister's wedding is on Easter Saturday. The invitation says casual and it is at a Quaker meeting house followed by a barn dance in the village hall.
So far I have bought this dress from a charity shop:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PER-UNA-MARKS-SPENCER-WHITE-LINEN-POLKA-DOT-SUMMER-DRESS-SIZE-12-LONG-/281299992906
but what should I wear with it?! I only ever wear jeans and T shirts and have been stressing about this for weeks. I have never and will never wear high heels but need something that isn't trainers. I have no idea about a jacket, jewellery, hat (!) so any advice will be gratefully received.

That's a pretty dress. You could wear a plain coloured jacket or cardigan with it. Shoes - you could go for black, grey or white sandals or ballet style pumps. I don't think you need a hat when it is a casual do. If you are going for coloured jacket, then you could tie your shoes or other accessories in with the same or contrasting accessories.
Shoes, something like this would be good I think:

If you wanted to go for a bit of colour, then try these:

Apologies if that's too much pink, you could go for the same kind of effect in a less Barbie colour too.0 -
I would go with something that's likely to stay on your feet if you are dancing! How about these options?

with maybe a bright jacket or cardigan? I'm sure you would be able to find something in your local supermarkets or charity shops that you are comfortable with, you are lucky that you have found a lovely dress that will take a number of different colours. Or do you already have anything suitable in a pale colour that might respond to a little dye? It will have to be cotton to take properly though.
The most important thing is that YOU feel comfortable - there's nothing worse than feeling that your shoes are too high/uncomfy or you are wearing an item that just isn't you.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hope you've managed to find something, OP. I'm feeling pretty similar to you - I need something to wear for a wedding reception party but I can't really do high heels and I never wear jewellery!
For that dress, I would get a black cardigan to go with it and some black or grey flat shoes.
The main thing is to try and get something YOU will feel comfortable in, even if it's not something you would usually wear, so if you don't do high heels it's not a problem, just get some smart-looking flats. I think as long as you don't go for example wearing trainers or tracksuit bottoms :rotfl: you should be fine.0 -
You've got a barn dance in the evening so for that I think you could takje a change of clothes. Perhaps go in smart jeans with smart blouse, sparkly tee shirt, longline cardigan. You did say it was casual and a barn dance is just that. Lots of fun and lots of fast (ish) dancing so you could possibly get away with trainers then!!
and for the dress....as already said toning or contrast jacket.. whateven colour suits you.......Or a longline cardi...... with matching or same colour range flats & bag.
the whole idea is to enjoy meeting people and have fun rather than get over stressed about what to wear!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Lovely dress
I'd probably team it with a coloured cardi and same colour shoes. Ballet pumps if you can wear them or sandals.0 -
You could try some kind of flower or flowery headband, flowery fascinator rather than a hat.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

that's a nice dress... I'd be tempted to go for nude ballet pumps, perhaps something like these: http://direct.asda.com/george/womens/shoes-boots/textured-patent-ballet-shoes/G004458593,default,pd.html
or these, if you wanted something a bit different: http://direct.asda.com/george/womens/shoes-boots/metallic-bar-ankle-strap-shoes/GEM298284,default,pd.html
I would probably take a cardigan, if you've got a black one, or one that ties in with one of the colours in the dress, that would be ideal - I wondered uf this would go?

Or this, wlthough I know some would think spots and stripes would be too much!
