One year and no letter

Can anyone tell me when you get your discharge papers as its been one year since the 25th March.

Also would the OR find out if I get a new car as my father has bought me one but not sure what to do about registering it in my name or not.

Thanks holty

You don`t get any discharge papers. Ring the OR and ask for a letter of confirmation, either that or you will need a discharge certificate from your court, cost of this is about 70 pounds.

  • I didn't realize I was under the impression they informed you at the end, so will I be ok with the car then if my date of discharge was the 25th March?

Might be different in Scotland but all I did was contact the AIB and paid £15 and they sent out a discharge certificate.

Once I was sure I was discharged, I just rang the OR office and they sent me a letter of confirmation.

Yes it is different here, you used to be able to get a letter of confirmation from your OR fee of charge but a certificate of discharge has always had to be paid for from the court you went BR. You should be alright with car if your father is buying it for you, just make sure there is a paper trail confirming this.
