Monday 31st March - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending

    Morning everyone
The sun is shining down on us so we need to put a smile on our face.

I did some washing last night so i could get it on the line early.
Cooked a lovely family roast yesterday so we are having cold meat and jacket potato today.

Finished reading my free kindle book = Dancing with the Ferryman by Frankie Valente. I would recommend it, a good easy read.

Well, time to move and do a bit of tidying/cleaning.

Just been around the survey sites. Not happy with Toluna. I reached 80000 points and asked for my M&S voucher and now my asking has moved from pending to no data available. This was weeks ago.
I do not think I am going to get my voucher after all the work filling in many surveys. I have filled in the contact form x2 now :0(.

Won a moo musical cow from dairylea cheese spread :0)
i entered the code inside the lid and was expecting a get lost so it was a surprise.
    Delivery within 28 days.
You put the cow inside the fridge and it plays every time you open the door. Till i get fed up with it.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

  • Morning to everyone and hope you've all had a good weekend?

Managed to have a fairly frugal weekend, discovered Aldi (went a few years ago but wasn't impressed by the range), this time it was fabulous and I'll definitely be going back, it shaved loads off the weekly shop.

Cooked for the mother-in-law yesterday, well I did the puddings and prepped the veg on Saturday to avoid unnecessary workloads yesterday! DH did most of the cooking yesterday rightly so! I had hoped that as it was Mother's day, someone else in the house might have cleared the table and I hung out as long as I could but by 6:15pm (we ate at 2pm!), I could stand it no more and did it myself!

Sold a few ebay items over the weekends so need to wrap and post them after work today. Have brought the strangest lunch in the world to work, its the leftovers of Friday, Saturday and Sunday night's dinners – should be an interesting experience!!

Did loads of washing over the weekend and dried on the line, including all the bedding, what a luxury that was! So nice to have some sunshine and for it to be a bit milder.

Evening meal from the freezer tonight which I will eat while I am watching DS1 & 2 at their swimming lessons.

Figures for March show an overspend of £61 which is not good, we were doing ok until I got a tax disc renewal notice in the post which we hadn't budgeted for as we lease our car. We have done lots of leases before and tax has always been included but apparently not on this deal! Doh!

    Have a good day all!

    Morning all!

    Ziggy you are doing brilliantly.

Sold my iPad yesterday, the funds from which are going straight into savings towards my MA fees. I can get a CDL for 80% but need to find the other 20% upfront! Feels quite nice to have savings though. We are going to start our emergency fund this month too to avoid any vet nightmares like last month!

Today I'll be looking around for the best ISA to keep the money in, and thinking if there's anything else I can sell!

Have a good day all :)

    Afternoon Campers,
Huge list for this week, but not much done off it yet, as have been busy supervising gas-man. £200, so not a good day on the spending front but to be fair, it was a very decent price for the work done. It also involved bricking up a big hole through the wall, which he has done extremely neatly.
*Wrote Easter cards (99p for a big pack from local independent card shop, popped letters in to folk who were owed them to make the most of the stamp)
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7. All drying nicely outside on the line.
*Bathroom heating has been removed ready for new bathroom installation in May, so that'll be a reduction in gas use.
    *Tended veggie seedlings.
*Froze surplus stock I made yesterday. Kept a jugful back for dishes I'll be cooking this week.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Perused Avon book for bargains. Some nice things but decided not to place an order while I'm still doing 'Use it up' on everything that's been hanging around in my make-up drawer.
*Cancelled pet insurance & direct debit.
*Did small online seed order to use the £5 voucher I got when I complained that only 25% of my cucumber seeds had germinated......at £1 a seed, I felt I should be up for a compensatory voucher & they agreed.
*Did a couple of surveys, but just haven't got time to bottom them out today.
*Have still got to put bathroom furniture back now gas man has finished. Am going to go through units & chuck anything I can get rid of now as it'll need doing before new bathroom is fitted anyway. Already filled half a bin this morning. Chucking out clutter is so therapeutic.
*Dinner as per meal plans - fajhitas & big salad, using weekend rubber chicken.
*Absolutely MUST knit little socks....it's all very well me promising to have the order ready for Saturday night.....they're not going to knit themselves!
*Clear as many assorted indoor jobs as possible so that I can have a really good day in the greenhouse tomorrow, as have tons to do out there with potting stuff on, etc, especially the veggies & plants I've promised to family members (we do lots of swapsies!).
Right, kettle going on for a quick cup of rhubarb tea, then must tackle this bathroom mess!

    Hello,

I just had a big snack before going out for a work dinner tonight so I'll be happy just to nibble on a salad/portion of chips. Wish me luck with the 'let's just split the bill 12 ways' conversation!

Had a great day (and still feeling ok), woke this morning feeling much more like my old self and rested when needed too - note to self: feel less guilty and take one day at a time ;)

Night all, off to watch film with OH.
