Its been a very long hard struggle but i can see the light!
I've just managed to balance transfer my overdraft to my CCard 0% for 6 months.
I've been overdrawn since starting studying 10 years ago and graduating into the height of the recession didn't help, taking a low paid job with a commute costing more thand 50% of my take home pay didn't help in the short term however now nearly 4 years on it has started to work out.
18months ago I had a 1700 OD, 1k CCArd and 1k OD on a joint account. My other half had 500 OD and a 500 CCard billnd the same joint account bill.
Now she has zero OD and uses her cards 250 limit per month to spend on and pays off in full.
we have no JA overdraft. the only debts we have now are my CCard bill which is despite the balance transfer smaller than what my OD was 18months ago.
All in all I hope to be debt free by Oct/Nov.
how will i celebrate? by using the money i would normally put aside for debt payments and stuff it in an ISA, Debt free is the start, having savings to the tune of 3 months pay is the second phase.
