Lloyds debt collected by CSL, now letter from Wescot?

Long story short, I became unemployed late 2009 and defaulted on two CCs. I had stupidly (and out of complete desperation at the time) used an overdraft facility on a Lloyds account which I wasn't getting anything paid into at the time and put it to the back of my mind.

Lloyds closed the account when they realised I wasn't using it (after adding £100 of fees to it) and referred it to Credit Solutions Limited (CSL). I had been paying £20/month on top of my other debts. They had been writing to me to "review" the payment plan (i.e. call an 0870 number from my mobile to get me to pay more to them and pry into my life - nope, don't think so - BOS tried that and sent a threatening letter in order to do so), but the payment had always been on time.

I was visiting my mother in law's yesterday when she mentioned she had a letter for me. Wescott had written to me at a previous address (the letters from CSL had always been to the correct address) asking for payment to the Lloyds account.

There is around £92 to pay to the account, but I'm confused. Do I:

a) Keep paying CSL via standing order until it's paid off?
b) Contact Wescott costing me a small fortune on a phone bill, bearing in mind they wrote to me at the wrong address?
c) Try and offer a settlement figure? If so, how much? And who to?

I'd write to Wescot saying you're currently paying CSL and unless they provide proof that they have been assigned by Lloyds to collect the debt, you won't be paying them a penny.

question: is the debt still owned by Lloyds or have they sold it to CSL?

Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
Current debt total: £32,756.02 (as of 1st March 2018)
Date Free Date Aim: Summer 2019 (8 extra months needed :( )
  • Lloyd sold it on. Will send a letter to Westcott. Aiming to pay off the debt within the next 3-4 months and concentrate on paying BOS off by Jan 2015 at the latest.
