Handbag repair in West London

I have a handbag and the clasp has broken. It's an ordinary magnetic clip, nothing fancy. I have been quoted £15-20 to replace it. [The place that said £15 is a long way away and would cost £5 in travel anyway.] Does anybody know of somewhere in West London (zone 1-2) that would fix a handbag clasp cheaply? I am surprised by how few shops seem to do it.
Also, as a secondary question, it is only 18 months since I bought the bag. Should the shop take it back?
I hope this forum is appropriate, I thought fixing things is considered "old-fashioned" by some people and couldn't think which other forum to put it in! It is my first time posting, so I wasn't quite sure.

I use the excellent Eton Leather repair, but have to post to them. You are nearer, but more than £5 fares, I would think. These repairs tend to be expensive as they involve unstitching & re-making.
It depends on the cost & quality of the bag as to whether it is worth contacting manufacturers, saying it isn't fit for purpose. Worth a try.
Kleins (who used to be in Noel St. Soho, but I think are now only online) sell those kind of clasps. Could you consider repairing it yourself? If it was not an expensive bag to begin with, I'd probably give it a go.
I have to say that I think a lot of handbags are over-priced and poor quality. I have 4 very good quality ones, acquired as gifts over many years; and I make my own everyday ones.0 -
Thank you very much for your reply, you have given me a few things to think about. The handbag cost about £70, so it's not very expensive, but it still seems unreasonable that something that price hasn't lasted well. Perhaps it is worth a try contacting the manufacturer. I suppose I assumed that this would be a lot cheaper than it is, and once you factor in travel or posting the bag it's even more expensive.0

Bluebell, i have bought a 10 pack of magnetic poppers from flea bay for just a few £'s. Very easy to fit.
I bought mine for crafting. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Thanks to both of you. I did fix it in the end, and I bought the part for a couple of pounds from a website called "Bag clasps".
I though of doing it myself, but I had a lot on and thought it might be easier just to get it done somewhere. It turned out it was quicker and easier than I thought it would be to fix it, and more expensive than I thought it would be to get it fixed!0
