Old Style Daily Thread Saturday 29th March
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all

Off to work this morning but only for a few hours

MIL is coming today , so we are doing a Mother's Day meal for her today and she is going out with SIL tomorrow . I decided to get the meal for £20 from m@rks and sp3ncer , looking forward to it too.

Need to clean up when I get back , but I'm secretly hoping DH will have at least made a start on the cleaning

    Have a good day everyone

Morning, up early as I couldn't sleep, shaping up to be a lovely day down in my bit of Kent. Washing done ready to go on line. No real plans for the day, will see what happens and go with it.

Hugs where needed. I know this time of year with Mothering Sunday isn't a good time for some of us if you have lost, or are estranged from your mum, or your children, be kind to yourselves.

I used to write on here everyday, but stopped some time ago. Good to see it is still going well.....

For me it's my day off, so a lazy morning with American style breakfast I think. Anyone ever had American biscuits and gravy with bacon on the side??

Then maybe a trip to Penzance to visit the Sis in Law and stupid Bro in law who broke his collar on a skiing holiday (on the first day)

Hoping for some good weather too....

N9eav, nice to see you, enjoy your breakfast.
Hubby's off to work after breakfast, I shall be doing housework, first load of washing is already on the line.
I have some fabric cut & ready to iron, I want to make a start on a quilt, I'm using all my old summer skirts that I can no longer wear, I have plenty of fabric but I'm not sure if the colours go together, once it's ironed I'll be able to lay it out & decide what I can use.
Meal out with friends this evening, should be fun, last time we went out there was another couple with us who bickered & fought the entire evening & rather spoilt it for everyone.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning everyone :)

DH has gone out for a short bike ride and I am packing up an Amazon parcel to post today.

Welcome back to N9eav, it's lovely to meet you

Happy Birthday to Judi and to NPM's little cutie Asher

    Happy birthday Judi and Asher.

It looks like it's going to be a lovely day. DH gone to the gym, DD and bf here but bf has gone to play golf with a friend. DD didn't want him to go, they've not had a lot of time to spend together lately so he has promised faithfully to be back by 1.00.

As for me I cleaned the whole house yesterday so I'm feeling very smug. I even put my sewing things away so that we have a dining room again, that won't last long.

DD's friend and her baby are coming over so we'll probably go to see the ducks and swans and I also want to go over to see DS and gf who go off to Rome really early tomorrow.

    Have a good day.

    :bdaycake: Judi & Asher

N9eav lovely to see you again, you are welcome to pop in anytime, hope things are good for you and your family.

Well a week today DS will be getting married, he was 29 last weekend, where does all the time go, and I imagine it will be all systems go for us getting ready. Skye is staying with our caravanning friends around the corner for both Friday and Saturday nights. She sees them regularly, and they have always been "dog people", but now just borrow Skye.

Some other caravanning friends are coming over, the girls are going into town to look for a evening outfit for the cruise they are going on in August, and the boys staying away!! We will eat out tonight :) Will just watch what I have, as still trying to keep the shape for the wedding! Just had a Caramel Slimf@st drink for breakfast. :rotfl:

I can hear DH hoovering up Skye's lumps of stray fur, which she drops regularly, now matter how much we groom her. There is a dog grooming kit Aldi tomorrow, which I may try to make early to get one, as it is too near the wedding for DS to come and see us, and too far. His card arrived last week, he got it mixed up, but better early than late.

Better go and get the place tidy ready for the visitors. While basically clean, just needs a few bits tidying up, and our bedroom needs a little TLC.

Jayward I know you read, so get yourself on here ;)

Take care everyone, ((hugs)), spoons, positive vibes all round. DG

Good Morning everyone and what a glorious spring day here in north Kent . My son-in-law 's op. for his hernia's went well and DD collected him at tea time yesterday as they said he could go home.he has been signed off from work for a fortnight but said he will probably go in sometime next week as one of his work colleagues will pick him up so he doesn't have to drive he is able to be office based for a week or so at least.
Just checked my emails and I have one from my library saying one I had ordered is in at last so I'll pick that up later. The library is right by the park so a walk around there will go down well in the sunshine.
I got all of my ironing done yesterday and only have some wrinkly apples to peel and stew this morning. These will be turned into nice bowl of apples and custard for a pudding in the fridge for a couple of days .I don't waste anything at all now if I can help it:):):)
All my accounts are done for April and the banking and paperwork all sorted so I'm up to date with things.Hope you all have a great week-end and the sun shines down on you where ever you are
    Cheers chums

P.S.Happy Birthday to Judi and NPM's little Asher it doesn't seem possible its a year gone already.
Re looking after grandchildren, I have looked after four of my grandsons for the past 7+ years before and after school, and although at times its been wearing, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. They are all turning into lovely young men.Now aged 18,14,12 and 9.
I also take care of them during the school holidays. We have certain rules that I expect of them one is to make sure the house is tidy before their Mum gets in at 6.30 in the evening .They have their moments when they argue (funny sorts of kids if they didn't ) but on the whole they are pretty good kids, and I feel its a privilege to be their carer.

They tell me all sorts of things they maybe wouldn't tell their parents, and we sort out any problems they have. I do dentist & doctors runs plus any library runs they need .We all enjoy the summer holidays as I try to get them out of the house and away from PS3's & 4's and into the fresh air.We look online and see where we can go for free :):) Ever the OSer thats me :):).We play cards and board games, and when we go to the local country park a pretty mean game of French cricket or footie. I can wallop a ball with the best on a good day :):) not so good at footie though so I'm the ref :):) Its the greatest fun in the world for me and the boys are my 'minders' and make sure I don't over-do things.I had to work full-time when my children were this age so I missed such a lot of their growing up but now have the chance to enjoy my grandchildren instead.
