Company car after BR

Hi all, I'm looking for a wee bit of advice.

I went BR Aug 2010, discharged 1 yr later with no IPA in place.
Recently I've been looking to change jobs and have been put forward for a position that comes with company car.
Would I be able to go for a company car being a discharged BR?

  • I am sure you will be fine - I hope so anyway as my understanding is that once discharged from BR and with no IPA agreed or in place then you are in the clear.

Your credit record is knackered for 6 years but otherwise it's your life.

If the company said here's X hundred quid a month car allowance go and get yourself a car - and you needed to do it effectively as a private loan / lease that may be an issue but if the company provides it direct to you then I can't see a problem.

Someone who has been through this situation I am sure will be able to advise you accurately but I can't see a problem.

No problem at all, I am discharged and in an IPA with a Company Car, on my SOA to OR and to the IPA I have put down a sum for private fuel, but you do not put anything down for the car at all.

IMHO Company Cars are a bit of a win in BR with an IPA as the extra tax you pay for the car reduces your take home that you declare on a SOA for the IPA, so even though you are given a company car whilst in an IPA it reduces your IPA payment rather than your "take home" after IPA payment.
every time I manage to get one more breath into this body, I will sing a song of thanks to you my brothers, my sisters, my friends, may your sleep be peaceful, and angels sing sweetly in your ears.
  • Thanks, I didn't want to get my hopes up only to find it was a big fat no in the end.

Now I just need to get the job :)
