Today we received - on headed notepaper- a letter from our employer detailing our pay rise from 1/4/14. My friend's letter had an error - instead of
"your new rate of pay will be #7.88 per hour for the first 40 hours and #11.82 for overtime"
his said "your new rate of pay will be #19100pa for the first 40 hours..."
Does this form a contract ? Do they have to now pay him 19k pa or can they just say it was an error ?
And , as we do the same job , can I claim 19k if he gets it ?

I suspect you already know the answer to this one.

Your friend should just contact HR, let them know about the error, get an apology & a new letter & move on.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
