Hi only partly thick Susie here
I ve managed to transfer my sky box to youview :T but I've got a DVD player with one scart socket at the back which when fitted to the tv works straight away, but I've also got a DVD player with 2 scart sockets at the back and I can't seem to get a picture of the DVD up. do I need to find a channel or attach another scart socket but only trouble there s no more places where the other end can go. Anyone please
Does your tv have 3 av plug in sockets (red, white and yellow)?
You could get a cable for your dvd player that has scart at one end (connect to your dvd) and these 3 jacks at the other to go in your tv

Morning everyone.
I desperately need some culinary advice please.
We have got visitors for dinner on Saturday night (informal, nothing posh) :T - one is a friend of my eldest and also her friend - they are staying locally so we thought we would have them around for dinner. But basically we have no idea of their likes or dislikes and we have only met the friend once so we are keeping the menu simple - no haute cuisine
One is a vegetarian which is not a problem as I don't eat much meat anyway so its 2 vegetarians and 2 meat eaters.
I thought maybe OH would do his shepherds pie from scratch and also something easy vegetarian for us 2 veggies but along similar lines
I wondered about getting a vegetarian pasta bake but looking at marks ones they all have meat in them. So I then thought of the lovely vegetable pasta bake in the Tesco dine in for a tenner meal.
What do the cooks on the group think?
Also what to go with things - garlic bread, side salad, some roasted sweet potatoes, parsnips etc - ?????
Then there are the desserts. I want to make a choice of puds in advance, ideally 2 - things I can warm in the microwave or cold desserts.
My initial thoughts are rhubarb and ginger crumbles in small ramekins - would these be OK if I made them today - I could at least make the crumble mix and put it in the fridge. But I was also trying to think of something chocolate, maybe a mousse but I don't want to do anything with uncooked eggs.
I suppose 2 meal deals is the easy solution but that seems too lazy and I want at least part of the menu to be home made from scratch. But I suppose I could do 2 lasagne, one veggie and one not plus garlic bread and roast vegetables plus homemade desserts
Nigella would have no problems sorting this out ...
Personally, if we are entertaining one or more vegetarians, I concentrate on cooking the most delicious vegetarian meal for everyone that I can as most meat eaters are happy with some lovely veggie dishes.
I'd start with something like butternut squash and sweet potato soup, followed by something nutty, e.g http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/vegetarian_nut_roast_pie_62864
or a vegetarian cottage pie like this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/vegetariancottagepie_92035
I'd serve either of the above with mixed salad and possibly garlic bread too.
a chocolate dessert that can be made in advance (other than just warming the brownies and cherry sauce) would be something like this:

Hope you have a lovely meal and enjoy good company.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Plug this in the back of your tv for an extra scart input

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back :rotfl:
Managed to pick up a few bits at £1, didn't think there would be anything left. Was delighted to get some thermal long johns and long sleeve tops. Ideal for winter and when we go camping, I always end up freezing!...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
