Hi everyone. i have been offered a job at rbs citizens bank. Offer is contingent upon pre-employment screening. does anyone know what they look for and what would be a red flag during the process that would deny employment?

credit check at least, maybe criminal record / CRB / whatever its called now, depending on what job entails..
bankrupt / uncleared CCJ (or if not making agreed payments?) may be an issue!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Interestingly, I actually used to have a job at the company who do the screening for RBS!
I was mainly only involved in confirming references etc, but I remember there were credit checks and criminal record checks, too.
CCJ or even a default on a credit file could be an issue0 -
one job I went for had various checks via 3rd party agencies, who wanted all job history, to the exact dates- start/end..
they didn't seem to recognise training courses / jobclub as not being a job-
rather pointless exercise, as firm took me on regardless.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

*Credit check which will probably be a full check of your credit report.
Defaults, CCJ's, DMP's, bankruptcy etc I don't think a missed payment or two will be of concern.
*All previous employment checked, usually the last 6 years.
Dates will be checked against your application.
*References. Normal work reference checks.
*Qualification checks.
Degrees/ high school qualifications will be verified.
*Possibly CRB.
Convicted criminal check. Depends on what level if cautions etc are shown.
If they are using an external company to do this they will usually contact you if they can't verify something, any gaps in employment etc or if they can't get hold of a previous employer, I had to send them P60's to prove a year for mine. All that glitters is not gold.0 -
Oh come on OP, surely you must know ! ASK! After all you had an
interview yes?
You've been offered a job and not knowing makes no sense
and scary if you have got through that without knowing the specific
requirements.
If they want you to part with any cash for a DBS, run is all I can say, it will never be worth it, I was also lead to believe it is far worse to have a CCJ then bankrupt issues showing as that is what rolls of most recruiters tongues first.0 -
thanks alot guys. Sooo how would i know if i have a ccj?? i check my credit report already and i have 3 accounts in good standing and 3 account in possible negative standing.
I have 2 capital one credit card on which i have missed about over 3 month of payments. I have paid one of them off recently and closed that account. The other account i have just made a 30% payment. I do have an account that was charged off and now closed though. Is that bad? i owe more than 1,000 on the account that was charged off. still havent arrange payment plans for that yet....Does anyone know how they do employment verification? do they just call the reference that i have on the resume?
Im going crazy because they told me the background check takes about 2-6 weeks which is soooo long. I never had a background check that last that long before with previous employers. Its making me so nervous. I know that i wil lpass the criminal check for sure.0 -
"Sooo how would i know if i have a ccj?? " There is a public information section on your credit report, it would be in there.
What do you mean by charged off?
Mine took about 4 weeks, it is stressfull just because it takes so long, generally if its an external company that are doing the checks on behalf of RBS they will telephone references. All that glitters is not gold.0
