Hi all, new to the forum and really hoping you can help - bit long winded but hope you can help me.
The short version is I would like to know if Woolwich Mortgages (Barclays) search your Callcredit report when you make a mortgage application.
The long version explains the reason why!
We have used a mortgage broker in order to apply for our mortgage - this is because our circumstances are somewhat unusual in that it's shared equity between myself and my husband and my father (annexe on the property) - this is not relevant to my issue other than the fact that if this application is turned down, we can't just go elsewhere as not many lenders seem to want to do this.
I have over the years from time to time checked my credit report with Experian and Equifax - always excellent and have never had any problems obtaining credit. Then a couple of months ago a letter came through the post from a debt collection agency citing I owe money from a T-mobile contract taken out in 2006 and said I have a default on the account.
I investigated and found out that it was a contract I had taken out in 2006 through Carphone Warehouse whereby it was for 18 months but if you returned the phone to them after 12 months they would close the account and you could get out early (and get a new phone), so that it what I did. Turns out CW never closed the account.
I contacted CW, and they could see that I had indeed returned the phone to them on 22 Aug 2007, and if I could get a statement showing the charges were after this date (which I know they will be as the debt agency told me my last DD to T-mobile was Sep 2007) they would pay the £67 owing and have the default removed.
So the debt agency accepted this, and are disputing on my behalf and in the process of trying to get statements (it's taking ages) I was somewhat perplexed why I was being pursued over this now after all this time, but wasn't too worried as it wasn't on my credit report... or so I thought.
Now I have discovered Callcredit - I have never come across them before and they ARE showing me as having an unsettled Default. It didn't actually appear on my report until June 2008?! This means it is due to drop off in a couple of months or hopefully when I can get statements and prove my innocence but we put our mortgage application in yesterday thinking everything was rosy.
Now I'm worrying myself sick. I emailed the mortgage broker first thing and told him - said I could provide email correspondance showing it's in dispute if it comes up, but just found out he's out of the office until Monday.
I would like to know firstly if Woolwich search Callcredit - if not then I'm worrying over nothing.
If they do - is an unsettled Default a flat no, or will they take circumstances into account?
My Experian and Equifax have me as 'Excellent'. There are absolutely no negative factors at all on Ex, Eq have 1 late payment on a ccard 2.5 years ago (first payment DD wasn't set up in time) - nothing else. On electoral role, currently own home had mortgage for 6 years and at same address, in current job 12 years my husband and I both have very good salaries and are borrowing only 3 x combined salaries and mortgage will be 50% LTV.
Thank you to anyone that read all this!!!

I forgot to mention that I moved house right after closing the account with CW which is why I didn't receive any reminders or demands in the post....0

Thanks Kingstreet - this is what I feared - a flat NO, regardless of any other circumstances. It looks to me like if they check Callcredit, I don't get a mortgage, if they don't, I do...0

I seem to remember a few months ago hearing they were more flexible with mobile comms stuff, so it may not be as black and white as the criteria says.
In addition, any lender declining a 50% LTV for a £60 mobile default from 2008 is a bit daft, IMHO.
Still on the run-up to MMR there are some odd things going on out there!I am a mortgage broker.
