Shop direct\littlewoods - 28 day policy

Hello all

I have almost every DD coming out of my bank on the 1st of the month as I am always paid 2nd to last working day of the month.

I however have an account with shop direct and they want paying every 28 days, next month there is something like 32 days between paydays and I don't have enough money to pay them twice a month.

this means I will get a £12 charge every month :(

Is there some way around this or shall I just stop eating for a while ?

I spoke to shop direct/littlewoods but their attitude was pretty much screw you pay me.

This is known as periodic payments and it's the 13 period a year system. I was once paid by this method, worked quite well until I got a DD that hit just before a pay day as these moved around each month, ie became nearer the beginning. Great at Christmas though as we got two pay days in December.

Looks as though you may have to see if the other DD's can be moved to accommodate, why not get them moved to the middle of the month?

I have just emailed them to ask if - rather than pay £100 once a month if I can pay £50 on the 1st and 14th of the month.
this will cover the 28 day period they class a a month (not a month in my eyes or account for that matter) and ensure I don't get a £12 charge every month due to missing a payment.

This also means I don't have to find £200 a month - fingers crossed !!

    Good luck they should.
  • No harm in asking. Otherwise, beg or borrow the money from somewhere. It's not much but obviously the impact it will have on your credit file from defaulting will be serious.

Good advice particularly with the credit rating, so important. :T
