Laser resurfacing V chemical peel?

Anyone know if laser resurfacing would be more effective on lines/wrinkles and sun damage than chemical peel.
I've had 2 professional peels done, first one was glycolic which did leave my skin feeling soft and nice but minimal impact on lines.
The next peel was a medium [don't know what it was other than not Salicyte] very drying, some peeling and redness but then it recovered back to what it was, seemed like something that would be good for younger oily/acne problems. Even the fine lines were pretty much the same. The area I'm most concerned about is lower face, smoking lines but really hating crepe lines appearing on lower cheeks.
I have a thin face so no middle age sag but lots of lines and fat loss in cheeks that didn't have much fat to begin with.:(

Probably...It depends on how deep the lines are and how bad the sun damage is. You'd need a strong chemical peel like a TCA to see an impact with a peel, and you'd need a course of peels not just one.
Laser resurfacing you will see a noticeable difference after treatment, but often requires more downtime (and more money!) than a chemical peel so you have that to consider as well. Look up treatments like CO2RE
Hope this helps!0 -
Ouch! Major expense, I'm trying to avoid all the big downtime because I just can't get so many days hiding indoors, pretty sure the medium peel wasn't TCA, should have asked exactly what it was, not glycolic as that was the mild one and not Salicyte either.
Maybe I will just go another medium and see if it makes a difference.

There is a thread about chemical peels on here.
Some people have had professional ones & many others have bought "DIY" kits and have reported great success.
There is a webstore/ebay store who offer chemical peels. I'm trying their collagen kit. Might be an idea to try one of the peels they offer. Even if you get zero results, it's not too much of a pull out as they are very reasonably priced.

I've been following that thread, mostly though it seems the concerns are open pores/acne/spots which I think would probably be great for a chemical peel, the last one I had really dried my skin up which is definitely not what I want.
I have a lot of sun damage, some of it been evident since my 20's:eek: also smoking and natural ageing process, it would need to be a very deep peel to get some of my lines, having said that even the newer very fine lines were still there after.
Had quite a few people comment on how well I look lately, so obviously it does something but not necessarily the miracle I'm after.;)0 -
I've bought this kit as it's supposed to help get rid of hyper pigmentation & also help with collagen production.

I guess we can't expect miracles lol. Even the stars who've had all sorts of plastic surgery and non invasive treatments still have to wear a ton of makeup to hide the sins0 -
Thanks for the link, that looks really good, have to say I do like Glycolic for the way skin feels and looks after, maybe doesn't catch the lines but it really brightens up a dull and dry complexion.
Will definitely order this.0 -
It comes in different types of peel, I bought the Mandelic one as it supposed help with hyper pigmentation too.
Haven't tried it yet, going to wait until tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on0 -

Hi Vicky,
I use mandelic and its fab for age spots. It takes a course of about 8 to see any difference to lines but mine have faded.0 -

Thanks, I've ordered the Mandelic from the link posted, would be really convenient to do this from home anyway.
Funny thing MSE, every time I come here I end up spending money and saving nowt:eek:
Actually that's not strictly true if this works out OK then I'll save on the eye wateringly expensive laser treatment I was considering.0
